Chapter 3

Uma walked in and saw Melody was crying. "Hey I know that you don't like me but Ben was asking about you. He saw you crying and he wanted to make sure you were ok" Uma asked worriedly as she went to go sit on her own bed. "Just tell him I'm fine. Today has been shitty for me, for many reasons" Melody chuckles sadly and then Uma says "I know, I know you hate me but I'm your cousin, so you can always talk to me. I'm here to listen. I promise I'm nothing like my mother." Melody smiles at Uma's comment. She wipes her tears and goes into her closet to get her pajamas. Melody takes her pajamas and goes into the bathroom to that shower before she goes to sleep. "I'm going to take a shower." Melody said to Uma. "Alright, I am going to get into my pajamas and go to sleep because I'm very tired, enjoy your shower." Uma replied. "Thank you, good night, sleep well." Melody exclaimed. As Melody was in the shower, all these thoughts about her parents were swirling through her head. After her shower, she wondered what was going to happen between them.

NEXT MORNING

   Melody woke up to her alarm at 6am and she realized that she had school today and she had to get ready. She got dressed and brushed her hair.

She walks out of her room and goes to breakfast. She didn't see her dad, thankfully. But her first class is science, so she has to see her dad. But it wouldn't hurt if she skipped it, right? At breakfast, she saw Ben walking towards her. She tried to ignore it as best as possible, but she couldn't ignore it completely. She did make eye contact with him but still continued to walk to a seat. Ben did eventually come over to her and said "Hey Melody, I saw you crying yesterday. Is everything ok? You know you can always talk to me." He took a seat right across the table from her and Melody said "Umm y-yeah i-i-it's just ummm family s-stuff going on." She couldn't even say a sentence without stuttering when Ben is around. "You sure you're ok? Or is it just a really tough subject right now." As Ben said that, he put his hand on her hand and caressed it. Melody started blushing so hard that she looked like a tomato. But then she remembered about her parents and she started tearing up. She knew she had to tell Ben now. "My-my parents a-nd I'm scared t-that they are going to get a divorce. God I don't even want to think about it. B-because if t-they do, then m-my mom will leave and go to Atlantica, and then they'll have another fight about me." At this point, she was crying so hard. All Ben could do was just be there for her considering he was still with Mal. "If you want, do you maybe want to tell me what's happening between them? You don't have to if you don't want to though." Ben said sympathetically. "Umm not right now sorry..." she said sadly. "Don't worry about it. But I'll see you in science in a half-hour." He chuckled a little bit and it made Melody smile. He got up and left and then it hit Melody. She has science with Ben and she is skipping science because she doesn't want to see her father. Now he will think terribly of her.

Once it was time to get to everyone's first-class, Melody didn't know what to do. Did she want to skip or not? She just decided to not skip it so she could have a good impression on Ben. She just wasn't excited to see her father. She got to class and when she walked in, she saw her father and he looked miserable. When she walked in Eric pulled her aside and said "And what do you think you are wearing?" Melody rolled her eyes and said "Why does it matter to you? You let me down. I trusted you, I looked up to you. Then you decide to cheat on mom. What did she ever do to you?!" Melody tried to walk past him to get to her seat but he pulled her out in the hall. "Look, your mother left last night. She went back to the ocean."
