[info: you are a second year at Shiratorizawa academy, you are Shiratorizawa's boys volleyball team manager. you suffer from anxiety and have recently been in a dark place]

It was 8pm on a Friday, you were helping the team clean up after a long practice. You could hear the start of rain trickling down from the cold mid December sky, the rain started off lightly pitter pattering off the window, you could also hear the screeches of the boys' shows against the floor while they were trying to clean up quickly so you could all go out and get something to eat from a nearby combini that sold some great meat buns for cheap, it was Ohira-senpai's idea and everyone agreed it was the best way to end a long week, a treat for the whole team.

The whole team really appreciated you, they appreciated all of your hard work since you were currently the only active manager of the team since the third year manager left not to long ago to focus on her studies. The third years saw you as a little sibling, they all cared for you deeply and never put too much pressure on you. Ushijima-senpai tried his best not to intimidate you since he knew he could come off as scary sometimes (most of the time), Ohira-senpai would gift you old sweaters which you loved with all your heart, he always tried his best to make sure you were comfortable 24/7, Semi-senpai would often sing to you and play guitar for you, they'd always say it was to get your opinion but you really knew it was just them trying to impress/ show off their amazing musical skills to you. Tendou-senpai was the third year you were closest with since your personalities matched, he'd always try to make you laugh and smile by dancing and singing off key (which always pissed off Semi-senpai) you'd often read manga together and talk about maybe cosplaying together one day. The other third years would constantly baby you and spoil you with edible gifts and doing some of your work for you.

You are really close with the other second years, you and Shirabu-kun would often hang out together when classes and practice was out because you had a lot of the same classes together, there were a lot of rumors going around that you two were dating which couldn't be anything further from the truth because Shirabu-kun was a pansexual mess who had an obsession with a certain emo third year, you'd tease him about his crush and he'd always become a flustered mess when you'd bring it up. You and Kawanishi-kun didn't really talk a lot but you had a positive friendship, you've just never really been close with him.

The first years looked up to you like a parent, Goshiki-kun would always be really formal with you and you'd constantly tell him that he doesn't have to be formal but he always gets embarrassed and then begins to act like you're actually his mother, you found it to be one of the most adorable things ever.

It was a real comfort for you knowing that you had such a close relationship with the team but you always had a constant thought that they never actually liked you and they only treat you the way they do because you're their manager. You think you annoy them all the time and think they hate you, which you knew was not true but because of your struggle with anxiety and your horrific trust issues you could not remove those thoughts from your mind no matter what you did. Recently you'd been in a real bad rut, your fears of everyone hating you had been so much worse recently, you'd been socially awkward and clumsy. You'd spend most of your free time blasting sad songs in your headphones thinking about life and trying to remove those thoughts from your head.

"Hey! y/n-chan are ya' still coming to get foody doody with us?" you're suddenly snapped out of your train of thought by a beaming Tendou, swinging his arms from side to side anticipating your answer. "Hellooo~ anyone in there?" he slightly tapped your head like he was knocking on a door. You didn't really feel hungry, you know you should eat something since you haven't eaten anything since last night but you didn't want to go out anymore, you just wanted to go to your room and have all those negative thoughts go away. You still hadn't replied to Tendou, without realising it you were just standing there, looking at the ground and for some reason you felt tears start to sting your eyes. "Woah hey, are you okay?" Tendou stopped dancing and you could hear his tone of voice turn serious. 'fuck now you look like an idiot' you thought to yourself. "Hey, you don't have to come if you don't want to" he smiled at you. "No I just.. I-" you stutter 'why are you stuttering? You're embarrassing yourself even more now' you think to yourself once again. Tendou tries to grab your gaze, he places his hands on your shoulders, you tilt your head up at him and meet his ruby eyes for the first time, you saw his face, he looked concerned, he looked worried, he looked like he genuinely cared about you. You broke, you started crying, the tears seemed to come from no where. Tendou smiled at you again "Guys you can go on without us" Tendou shouted to the rest of the team and with that you once again heard the squeaking of shoes against the floor, the doors being opened and letting in cold air and small splashes of rain that was now heavy.

It was just you and Tendou in the gym. "I'm sorry, you can go with them it's fine you don't need to stay with me-" Tendou cut you off with a glare. "I'm not hungry anyway, c'mon I'm not just gonna' leave you here while you're upset!" he said with a frown. "I care about you y/n-chan, so please let me comfort you in a time of need. I can see somethings wrong and I would feel like shit if I just left you hear to willow in your thoughts" you broke down even more, tears flowing like the rain. Tendou pulled you into a hug (which wasn't a strange thing for Tendou, he was a very touch affectionate person so you've hugged many times before) he rubbed your back and brushed his fingers through your hair. "It's okay. I don't know what's wrong, but I'm here for you. I'll always be here. I really really care about you y/n. Do you want to get out of here and come to my dorm? The guys won't be back for a couple of hours so no one else will be there. We don't have to talk if you don't want to. I just refuse to leave you alone right now." you nodded and with that you walked out into the cold, wet winter air and headed to the boys dorms. You walked into Tendou's shared dorm with Ushijima, Reon and Semi. It was clean and tidy, dishes put away neatly, chairs tucked under the small dinner table, it was cosy. Then you walked into Tendou's bedroom which was its iconic mess of clothes on the floor with manga here, there and everywhere, the odd monster energy can lying empty on the floor, posters from various animes on the wall along with band posters and merchandise. You'd been in Tendou's room a few times before so this was nothing out of the ordinary. You both sat on his bed and sat a few feet apart in silence for a moment. "Mind if I get changed a sec? Imma' but sweaty" Tendou says while doing a little jig, you nod as he walks out of the room to get changed. You had a moment to be alone with your thoughts. Does he really care about you this much? Why is he being this kind to you? The thoughts came flooding through your mind like crazy. You took a deep breath and wiped your tears that still trickled down your face.

"Sorry about that, I'm sure you don't want to be comforted by a smelly boy" he said while walking back into the room. "Want a monster?" he asked while walking to a mini fridge he had in his room that was covered by more clothes he'd yet to put away. You decline but that didn't stop him from asking and making sure you didn't want one. "Oh I get it, you're more of a coffee kinda' person" he said with a smirk, you giggled a little, you knew he was trying to make you laugh and he was successful. He sat relatively close to you while opening a monster he'd picked up for himself, once again you were in silence, he patted his shoulder implying you to rest your head on him, you didn't hesitate to do it, then as you laid your head there you remembered just how skinny and boney he was, it didn't really bother you though. It did always confuse you though, how was he so skinny yet so strong? He looked like he would shatter into a million pieces everytime he went to block a ball.

"It's still raining" Tendou broke the silence, he peeked his head to meet your gaze once again and smiled at you. You leaned onto him more, taking long deep breaths, enjoying the company he was giving you. You embraced the entire room, looking at the various posters and anime figures, the faint sweet smell of energy drinks and sour candies mixed with a tint of burnt popcorn. Tendou was right when he said it was still raining, you loved the sound of rain patting against the window, it reminded you of when you were a first year and you were in class with Shirabu. It was also a rainy December probably this time last year, Tendou had made his way into your classroom without your teacher noticing somehow. Shirabu looked mortified, he was scared he was somehow going to get into trouble for Tendou's presence but you couldn't help but sit there and laugh, you found it so funny that he'd just wandered in for no reason. Whenever you were sad you'd think back to all the funny little things Tendou has done in the past and now that you think hard about it you realised that he's actually always been there for you, right by your side making you laugh and cheering you up when you were having a bad day. He really cared about you a lot.

"Is there anything you want to talk about?" the silence was broken once again. "I don't know where I'd even start" you sigh. "That's fine, I completely understand that, our minds are weird, you feel like you know what you want to say but it just won't come of your mouth into words that make sense" Tendou said while taking sips of his monster.
