"I think we outta go back to my place," Raphael said, after Savannah and Trevor had disappeared down the street in their Lexus. Raph realized having her close to him would keep his mind at ease knowing she was out of danger. Now getting Donny on the same page would be a different story. It had been years since any of his brothers had brought a human to their home... April O'Neal was the last one.

Brooke shot him a sideways glance. Now that her sister and brother-in-law were on their way to safety, she could now get a better look of the giant turtle who saved her. His skin color was a dark green hue, lighter spots scattered across his skin with scars in various places that Brooke wondered what types of dangerous circumstances he's found himself in. As Brooke was scrutinizing him, Raphael shed the extra shirt and threw the hat in her backseat. Raph drew his arms back behind his head and tightened the bandanna's knot, unaware of her gaze.

From his ripped arms to the obvious added muscle to his legs, Brooke's heart began to race suddenly. His hands were calloused, his elbows and knees had pads that were securely placed. Add to that, his height placed him among the small percentage of guys she didn't tower over. No man can compare to him. The thought dashed in as quickly as it went away. Every bit as superb his physique was, due to his years of training and upbringing, Raph's face interested her more. His eyes were the real kicker. The color of honey and chocolate, sparking every nerve ending in her body whenever he regarded her with his gaze. What had he seen with those eyes? Probably more than she could imagine given who he was.. if there are turtles, I wonder if unicorns exist.. or aliens. Omg. Her short time as a cop had introduced her to a whole other world most people weren't familiar with, world teeming with criminals prone to violence and bloodshed. Her job as a protector of innocent people, working to keep them safe from that world, had given her a sense of pride as well as periodic doses of excitement. That had all ended the night she'd been shot, when she'd changed from protector to victim.

The dark mood came out of nowhere, dragging her down. as she fought against it, she realized Raph was watching her with an unreadable expression, intense as always. Did he sense the turmoil in her? or was he just waiting for a response to his question?

"Why-why should we go to your place?" she ventured. Was he flattered by her comment about him being totally male and totally hot? Or was he opportunistic? Did he believe if she were alone with him if in a private place, she'd act on her attraction - yes, you just admitted it. You ARE attracted to him. Good Lord.

The guy obviously didn't know her. She didn't do casual sex...let alone sex with another species. He's clearly a mutant combined with a human so he must have the same parts.

Brooke felt her face begin to burn from her thoughts. She didn't do any kind of sex anymore, at least not for the past two years. After Chad had dumped her, she'd preferred to remain alone. But maybe enough time had passed, and she should consider ending her hiatus. A hunky specimen of a guy like Raph was something she's never, ever encountered and it was only natural she'd be temped. Nothing like this is natural...but her body was arguing against that point.

He rubbed the back of his neck, the movement flexing a magnificently sculpted bicep Brooke pretended not to notice. "I want to see if my brother's equipment can sharpen up that shot of Sidorov."

She should have felt relieved by the impersonal nature of his comment, but instead she felt disappointed. She could lay blame for that at Savannah's door. Her sister's suggestive and supportive behavior to 'go for it' had steered her thoughts in a direction that was rash and inappropriate. She was grateful he wanted her camera, not her body. Of course she was. A onetime sexual encounter was not the way to heal what was damaged in her.
