As I walked down the sidewalk, once again alone, I thought, I am so glad to get a new start. I really need it. Maybe I should practice talking to people?
"My name is Sam Kofflin, and I just moved here from Ohio," I said aloud. "I am here for a new start, to learn from what I have done and try and do better." I shook my head at myself. "I can do better." I was there for a new start. At my old school, I was the one who always got pushed around and teased. I was significantly paler than my peers who all had fresh tans from their weeks in Cali.
The sound of a car startled me. I looked up. "Oh. That was a short walk." I looked uncertainly at the building in front of me. With a smile plastered to my face, I thought, I can't wait to meet new people.
Not that I actually believed it.
_
As I walked up the stairs, I saw the middle school kids running by. Well, I hope this is not going to be like last year, I thought to myself. As I was going to my locker I saw a boy, with red hair, pinkish tips, and emerald green eyes. Then I saw two more boys, one with the same red hairstyle as the last, and the other with pure snow-white hair.
All the bleach in the world couldn't get you that white... must be natural.
I approached my locker, eyeing the body wearily.
"Who are you?" They asked. I hesitated as they approached.
"Um... I'm Sam Kofflin." I said, looking at the one with the white hair.
"She's the one we've been looking for, Raito," the one with the red hair said.
"Mm," the other redhead purred. "I'd take her even if she wasn't, Ayato." He winked at me. "Subaru, go ahead. Do it," Laito said to the white-haired dude.
"WAIT!"
The three of them stared at me.
"Um, well... Can I finish school first?" I asked quickly. I attempted a smile."Please? A-and then you can come back." I finished.
The emerald-eyed boy squinted at me. "Fine, there's only one period left. After school, call this number," Ayato said, handing me a slip of paper.
I turned to my locker. "Um, okay. See you..." I stopped. The three boys were gone. "Later, then," I muttered, scratching the back of my head.
Spinning the dial of my locker, I thought to myself. Who are those guys?
I smiled to myself. Whoever they are, they're really hot... and I get to see them after school!
I started to jump up and down. I didn't care about the people staring at me. At that moment, all I cared about was getting school over with and getting with some hot guys.
_
After an excruciating hour and a half, school was finally over. I grabbed my phone and dialed the number that Ayato had given me. It started to ring, ring, and ring. Just as I thought I'd get a voicemail, someone answered.
"Hello?" I asked.
"What do you want?" The man on the other side hissed.
"Well, um, I'm the person Ayato handed a slip of paper to after he said to call this number. And this number was on it." I said. Did he prank me or something?
"Wha- my god - unbelievable bastard giving my number. I'll just... I'll text you the address to our home. You will be living at my house for pretty much the rest of your life so that'll be fun. Bring your things." He paused. "I hope you can find us to be... normal." The man said. Then he hung up.
I was dumbfounded. I stood there and just stared at my phone when a text message from the same number came up.
"Sagamaki Mansion?" I asked aloud.
_
When I got to the mansion, I was really surprised.
But also terrified.
"Why, I thought you would never show up." I whipped around to see Ayato standing behind me, smirking.
"Why did you think that? And this is your house? This is unbelievable. It's so beautiful." I said.
"Eh," he replied. "It works. Oh, by the way, we have a friend of yours here. Her name is Alex or something. You may want to see her. But-"
I started to run toward the mansion's massive wood doors.
When I opened the door (after struggling with whether it was a push or pull door), I saw Alex standing there smiling at me.
"Alex!"
"Sam!"
We flew into each other's arms, embracing as though we'd never see each other again.
"How have you been doing?" I asked my friend.
"I mean, I've been okay. Moving from home kinda sucked... But now I'm amazing since I'm with you!" She replied with a smile.
_
We walked silently behind Ayato as he led us to our room. I noticed a man standing in front of our door. When he opened his blue eyes, I felt a chill go down my back and staggered backward. Alex stopped me from falling, and a bookshelf helped too. I grabbed my chest because it felt like my heart was getting crushed.
"What-" I said, just as I passed out.
_
When I woke up, I saw him, the one with the blue eyes, his face mere inches from mine. I screamed.
"You hurt my ears." He replied.
"I... wha-" I shook my head, clearing my thoughts. "Sorry, but you hurt my chest when you... looked at me..." It sounded even worse out loud than it did in my head. I forced myself to look away from him and his wonderful face.
"I did?" he said, glancing at my chest. "Let me see, to make sure you're not hurt," he whispered. He began unbuttoning my shirt and my face turned a million shades of red.
"O-oka-" I cut myself off. "Wait, no! Get off me, you perv!" I yelled. I tried to push him away, but failed miserably and, instead, lost my breath as my hands pressed against his chest.
"Hold still." He whispered into my ear. He held me down on the bed. His hands got down to my last button. He sat up just enough to stare at my, now almost bare, chest. He smirked. "Oh, good. You're not hurt on the outside," he cooed. He began rebuttoning my shirt.
My face still red, I managed to push him away.
"You know, I can button a shirt, too. So if you please," I muttered, smacking his hands away from me.
"Fine. I was only trying to help." He said, standing. He threw a wink at me and slipped through the door.
"Keighlee! Are you okay, are you hurt, do you have a broken bone?" Alex said while barging into our room. She looked at me, glanced behind her, and smiled. "What'd I miss?"
"I- nothing. I'm fine," I replied, hand pressed to my chest.
_
"Hey, you two, dinner time," Raito said through the door.
"Fine, we're coming," I said with a grunt. My chest still hurt.
When we got down to dinner, I saw the whole family. There were six of them, the looks on their faces told me they didn't like each other. Just then, I felt someone lick my neck.
"What the- who are you," I asked the purple-haired boy.
He smiled, his eyes wide and innocent. "Kanato," he said. "You smell nice."
I felt someone breathing on my shoulder, I turned to see the last of the six brothers.
"Ok, so who are you?"
"I am Rigi, the second oldest."
