Please listen to Ashley Serena cover of Jolly Sailor Bold, 🧜🏼‍♀️ before you read my story! It sets your mood and well while listening to it don't be near of water 🌊 cause seriously you would follow her gorgeous voice into the water and would drown. It is seriously hypnotizing to listen to her song, this is how I imagine a siren singing voice!😍

I was always fascinated by sirens 🧜🏼‍♀️ and mermaids🧜🏼. So, I wrote this story to explain their origins. It is a literary-poetic work. I hope you will enjoy it!

Sirens are creatures with human-like heads and torsos. From the hips down, where on humans, there would be legs, sirens have long fish tails. They are beautiful creatures, but at the same time mischievous. When they open their lips, a pure enchanting and entrapping melody escapes from their throat. Their song is irresistibly sweet, yet their sadness and grief are laced in their words. The melody purred to the soul, piercing through the sailor's entire being.

However, beside their beautiful voice, being a siren has a big drawback. She can't leave the ocean, if she does so, such insolence would be punished by death of great sufferance. Additionally, a siren has no memory of who they were before. They know only one task for sure, they serve and take care of the Mother Ocean.

Although, we know that sirens were all once humans. Before they became sirens, they were broken hearted humans who threw themselves into the sea. Those unfortunate humans were saved by Mother Ocean, she empathized with them. She gave them gills and a fish tail. She also wiped their memory, so they could forget their heart break. But this blessing was also a curse. With their memory loss came eternal loneliness. Mother Ocean realized this and gave them a way to break the curse and become human again. In order to become human a siren must find a broken-hearted human drowning in the sea. The human must agree to a "contract" saying that they are willing to have a second chance at life. If accepted, the siren is set free and the human is stuck alone with no memory of what happened or who they were. That is the cycle of sirens.
