Sonia awoke to the sound of music playing. She looked at the clock, a few hours past midnight. Why was music playing? Was there an intruder? She felt over to the other side of the bed, not feeling her girlfriend, Peko Pekoyama, there in bed. Was something wrong? She got out of bed, walking to the door, and opening it.
She walked downstairs, seeing Peko standing there, a record in their record player.
"Pekoyama-chan, what are you doing?" Sonia questioned her.
"I was hoping you would awaken. I do apologize, but would you like to dance?" Peko suggested, holding out a hand. Sonia knew Peko was odd with her random acts like this, due to her yakuza upbringing, but she appreciated it, nonetheless.
Sonia took her hand, smiling. "Aw, you're quite sweet, I would love to!"
They began to slow dance, rain hitting the roof of their home lightly as the music played.
"Oh, baby, I am a wreck when I'm without you, I need you here to stay."
"I broke all my bones that day I found you, crying at the lake."
Sonia smiled, embracing Peko while they danced. Peko's face flushed pink, but continued to dance.
"Was it something I said to make you feel like you're a burden, oh, and if I could take it all back I swear that I, would pull you from the tide."
"Darling, when I'm fast asleep, I see this person watching me, saying, is it worth it? Is it worth it? Tell me, is it worth it?"
They danced around their living room, staring into each other's eyes, taking them in whole with love.
"I'm so happy we can share this moment, Nevermind-chan," Peko stated, smiling. Sonia smiled back.
"Guess there is something, and there is nothing, there is nothing in between. And in my eyes, there is a tiny dancer, watching over me, he's singing--"
"I am too, Pekoyama-chan," Sonia said back, their faces inching closer.
"She's a, she's a lady, and I am just a boy. He's singing--"
They were mere inches apart now, lips going to interlock.
"She's a, she's a lady,"
Sonia's lips met the cold steel of Peko's sword sheath. She opened her eyes.
"And I am just a line without a hook."
Peko fell to her knees, sobbing out as she clutched Peko's sword. The memories all came flooding back at once.
Peko had been executed that morning. Sonia cried out, sobbing grossly as she clutched the sword close to her chest, embracing it tight. The record slowed, coming to a stop as she lay there on the floor, emotions too much to bear.
