I changed this story quit a bit, so you might be a little confused if
you start reading now... go read from the beginning!

Chapter 3: The New Friend
*BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*
My alarm for school goes off and I get up and stretch. "Jamie, get up!
You have to get ready for school!" I yell as I bang on a wall in my
room, cause she is right next door. "Yeah, yeah yeah, I get shower
first" and I hear her feet patting against the ground as she runs out
of her room. I nod to myself, going to my closet to pick an outfit,
wanting to try something new today, I grab a somewhat good outfit.
I grab a black dress up shirt, bronze colored skinny jeans, black
wedges, with studs on the heels; and a black leather jacket with a
cloth hood. I plan to curl my hair, and put on black mascara, black
eyeliner, and bright red lipstick, but I have to wait for Jamie to
finish in the bathroom.
I hear the water turn off, and the door next to mine close, so I go to
the shower, and wash my hair, and my body. When I get out I shave, and
put on my outfit. I go to my room and grab my stuff, and head
downstairs. "Sis, why are you dressed all fancy?" Jam asks me, I look
at her and say, "Well I guess I just wanted to try something new,
maybe get noticed my people for once-" I stop, as I'm interrupted by a
knock on the front door.
I go to answer it, and open the door. Ashton and the three other boys
are standing there. "Hi." Ashton says shyly. "Hi, how do you know
where I live?" I say/ask. He laughs, "I live next door, we're your new
neighbors, plus my mum. But my mom won't let me have the car today,
and I was wondering if maybe you could give us a ride to school. By
the way, you look very pretty." He says kinda fast, but I catch it
all, I give him a fake smile, and say thanks, cause who would believe
a guy as cute as him saying that to someone like me.
"Yeah I can take you to school, come on in, I haven't eaten yet, and
y'all can too if you haven't yet." I say and walk towards the kitchen,
I hear the boys come in and their foot steps follow mine. "So what are
all y'all's names, I only know Ashton's?" I ask and look at them. The
dark skinned boy is looking at me, so it the colorful haired boy, but
the blonde is on him phone. "Hey, Blondie its not very nice to be on
the phone while you at someone's house." I hear Jam say, and laugh.
He looks up abruptly and says "What? Were you guys talking to me?"
"Yeah, I asked for y'all's names, but none of ya answered." I say a
little sassy. Ashton speaks up and says "My name is Ashton Irwin, but
you already knew that, the one with the blonde streak is Calum Hood,
he is a little weird, Michael Clifford is the one with the red hair,
and Luke Hemmings is the Blondie that's always on his phone."
I nod and go to the cabinet to get some cereal, but I'm and inch or 2
too short, I jump onto the counter and climb up to get the cereal,
then jump off the counter. I get a bowl, which I can reach without
climbing, and a spoon and milk, then make my cereal.
When I'm finished, I look up at the boys, and they are all looking at
me now, even Luke. "Why are y'all looking at me? I'm nothing special."
I ask, and they all shake their heads, and Luke speaks, "We don't know
if your special or not, but you are pretty, just like Ash said
earlier. Also I apologize for being on my phone, my mom wasn't all
with me leaving Australia to come to another country, so she is really
worried."
I look down blushing, maybe Ashton meant what he said earlier. "Well,
thanks, but we have to go, or we'll be late, and its your first day,
so I suggest we don't do that." They nod, and we head out the door,
but I stop and ask jam if she has a ride, she nods, and I walk away.
When I get to the car, the boys are standing at Jamie's car. "Wrong
car guys, that's my sisters'" I say and walk to my Nissan. They nod
and walk over.
When we arrive at school I park in my usual spot, and Bergundy is
waiting for me, and gives me the 'Why are there 4 cute boys in your
car, and I'm not invited' look, I shake my head at her. "Bye boys,
enjoy all the girls fawning over you, and them surrounding you. But
I'm kind of invisible, and want to stay that way. So enjoy your day!"
I say and walk away towards my locker, with Birdy, who id questioning
me about the boys. “Bergundy, don't have a boyfriend, they are just my
neighbors.” I say annoyed. “Oh, yah, I forgot to tell you, um, Hunter
broke up with me last night, and I thought you were to busy with work,
so I just leaved you alone.” she rambled really fast. “Its fine girly,
I'm here whenever you need me, and you can come over to work or my
house whenever you want. I'm always free, your my only friend
remember. She nods and walks away.
As I'm walking to my locker, I hear foot steps patting against the
concrete following me. I stop to turn around, but the person was
running, and right behind me, so they ran into, crashing me to the
ground. I groan from impact, and he gets up right away. "Shit, I'm
sorry Hailey, you just walked away really fast and I didn't expect you
to stop. Here take my hand, I'll help you up." Ash rambled, and I
looked up grabbing his hand, he pulled me up with no effort.
"Thanks Ash. But why were you following me?" I ask him. He laughs
nervously. "I was actually hoping if you'd show me around, I have my
schedule, and wondering if you had any of my classes." He says handing
his schedule to me. I scan it over, "We have all out classes together,
but we need to go to the office first. So just follow me." I say and
turn back around and walk, him following me. “Why do we need to go to
the office?” He asks, “Your a new student, we need to see where you
locker is, and its combination for lock.” I say like it was obvious.
“Oh, back home, we would pick our lockers and bring our own locks the
next day, I hope the lads know...” He trails off. “Well, I guess a lot
things are different about America from Australia, for one we don't
say lads, we say friends, or boys.” I say, just so he knows, “But, you
can keep saying lads if you want, it makes you unique.” I say again,
to reassure him, to not stop being who he is.
“Oh yeah, and what makes you unique from from all of these people?” He
asks, “Um, I'm not unique, I am just an ordinary person, in an
ordinary town, going to an ordinary school, with now 5 unique friends,
well if you and your boys are my friends, that is...” I trail off
nervously, realizing I was rambling. “I would love to be your friend,
but I'm sure you are unique, I'll just find out what that thing is
that makes you that way.” He says, as serious as possible. I nod, and
continue walking to the office.
(Skipping the rest school day, cause nothing interesting happens
today, maybe next chapter at school.)
*after school*
Ash comes up to me, "Can you take us home, cause you were kinda our
ride this morning?" I nod. And we walk to me car, and I see the other
boys already there. Ash stops and grabs my arm, I stop too. "Why don't
you ever smile? I mean you smiled this morning but it was forced. So I
was just wondering why?" I freeze, I never realized that I never
smile, I never thought about it. "I guess I just don't have anything
to smile about, I only have Bergundy as a friend, beside Mac, but she
is a couple years older than me, and my boss. And I don't have any
real friends, that are always there, so there is nothing to smile
for." I say and walk to my car. I get in and the boys follow suit.
I drive to their house, and stop in front of it. "Why aren't you going
home?" Calum asks, I shrug and say "I have work, down at the movie
store." I say they nod and get out of the car. And I speed off. I pull
around the corner and there is a new car in the employee only spot. I
pull into the one next to it,and go inside. "Mac! Why is there a
strange car in the employee only spot?" I yell, and she comes from the
back. "We have a new girl and she is working in Ric's spot cause he is
on vacation, I need you to train her.
I nod and turn towards Ric's register, "My names Hailey Colleen,
what's yours?" I ask as nicely as possible. "My names Katie, its very
nice to meet you! I just moved her from Indiana, and I will also be
attending your high school. I hope we can be great friends." She says
really sweetly.
And for once I actually smile, I wanna be friends with this girl, and
its not a lie. "Me too, so we have no costumers right now so I'll
guess I show you how the whole thing works. But first I need to check
in before I count for being late." I say and head towards the back.
“No need for that, I clocked you in 5 minutes ago, cause I saw you
pull up. Go show Katie what to do with the register. Hurry before
someone shows up, like one of those cute boys from earlier, because
their movies are due back today.” Mac says wiggling her eyebrows,
laughing her ass off, and walking back to her office. I nod, and walk
back to Katie, explaining the register.
