Everyone Gets Scared Sometimes

RJ's dream

A/N: A request from one of my awesome RJXVerne readers. I can't believe I was able to write three stories of these two without any hate comments. I must be doing something right. Anywho, basically RJ was having another Nightmare about Vintson. When he wakes up, who else is there but his love, Verne.

         RJ was looking desperately around a dark area.

       He looked left, "V-verne?" He jerked right, "Hammy? Kids?" He tried standing, but fell down, dizzy. 

     "I've got you now, RJ." Said name jumped at the familiar voice. The bear came into view looking sinister.

     "Vintson? What happened to my family?"

     "You mean the haphazard group of animals? I took care of them." The ominous chuckle in his voice scared the racoon.

       "What did you do to them?"

      "That's in the past. What you should be worried about is what's going to happen to you."

      RJ gulped, glancing around and, finally seeing a opening. He bolted toward it, hearing the bear laugh. Then he was lifted up, the racoon screamed 'stop'. He was put in the huge jaws of Vintson as he heard Verne say his name in the distance.

       "....! ..j! RJ! WAKE UP!" Everything went black.

   "Wake up, RJ, you're baving a bad dream!" Verne shook his lover to wake him up. RJ woke with a start, pressing his paws on every part of his body. Then RJ looked at Verne and touched his face

        "Verne?" RJ blinked, feeling tears gather in his eyes. He tried to blink them away.

         "You were having a nightmare." Verne looked generally concerned, peeling the paws off his face. RJ glanced around and noticed everyone else was asleep.

        RJ hugged Verne, letting the tears fall on the others' shell.

        Verne hugged back, "Was it the one about being alone with nothing but kale?"

        "No, worse. It was about Vintson."

         "That bear?" Verne stopped hugging to look in RJ's eyes. Then winced when he saw his lover's tears.

          "Yes. I dreamed he did something to you and them. Then I got eaten." RJ felt his voice break.

           Verne smiled at seeing this sensitive side of RJ. The turtle hugged onto the racoon.

           "It's fine now. Vintson's not coming back."

            "But what if he does? Just the thought of losing you upsets me." RJ took note of the petting Verne was giving.

         "Then we'll be ready."

            

       It was silent for a minute before RJ heard his lover chuckle. He stopped hugging to stare at the turtle.

       "What's so funny?"

       "I-It's just that I never seen this side of you before. I guess you can be sensitive."

        The racoon scoffed, "Did you believe I was heartless?"

         "No. Just hiding your emotions."

         "What about you? You hid your feelings for a while."

          "I just didn't trust you then." Verne was happy RJ wasn't scared any more. He silently awarded himself before he felt a furry index and thumb pull his head up.

             "You trust me now though, right?" 

             Verne blushed, "yes." 

              "How much?" The racoon leaned closer, teasing his turtle.

            Verne looked directly in RJ's eyes, Whole-heartedly!"

           With that, RJ placed his lips on Verne, lightly kissing him before they felt sleep overcome them both. They snuggled close, going to sleep. RJ looked at Verne lovingly. He vowed to never get scared now that he wasn't alone anymore.

          Especially with Verne around.
