Riding through my hometown and looking at all the Christmas lights has me feeling some kind of way. It makes me feel all warm inside. I absolutely love Christmas time. The lights, the trees, the smell of the trees, the treats, the food. Everything is so cozy.

Last year I moved out of my parent's house and finally rented my own apartment a few towns ahead, closer to the city. I've been coming back to my hometown almost every week since then. Sometimes it's just nice to not be alone all the time and I actually know people in my hometown. So, it's good to be back. I will be staying for a few days so I can help my parents get ready for Christmas with the family.

When I arrived at my parent's house I smile because they already put up the decoration outside of the house. Why can't we just keep the lights outside all year round, it looks so good. I open the door and the craziness begins. My mom is running around stressing about everything and my dad is looking like a lost puppy, not knowing where to begin. It's like this every year.

I knock on the door, letting them know I arrived. My mom immediately turns around and gives me a big hug "thank god you're here, help me with the decorations" my dad just looks at me, shrugs and smiles. He really doesn't know how to handle all this. I let me bags drop to the floor and walk in the same direction as my mom, on the way giving my dad a hug.

"Oh, by the way Tay, we have an extra guest cause your nephew is bringing a friend". Why does he always do this? "Sure, of course he is" I sigh. My mom notices this and turns around "No long faces, just put him next to your nephew and it will be fine". "Fine" I say giving up. My nephew always did this. We made plans weeks in advance and then last minute he wanted to change something. I'm kind of the planner of the family so I hate it when he does this, but I just need to get over it as always.

The night consisted of decorating the Christmas tree. Putting up more lights than the lights that were already there. Making a few Christmas bouquets and hanging up all the cards my parents got.

After a long night of decorating we look at the room and sigh in unison. Proud of the work we did. The house looked great but I couldn't wait to lay in my bed and sleep for a long time.
