A rich man and his friend were walking along a street. The rich man accidentally dropped a gold coin from his pocket in the drain. The rich man tried to retrieve it but he couldn't put his hand through the drain cover. A little boy saw what happened and offered to help. With his small hand, before long the gold coin was recovered.
"Thanks a lot for your help. I just want to show my appreciation," said the rich man while he was putting two gold coins in the boy's hand.
After the little boy was gone, the rich man's friend asked the rich man why he gave the boy two gold coins. "It costs you more," the rich man's friend said.
"Not really," said the rich man. "Instead of wasting one gold coin for good, we can now make full use of three gold coins."
