Nep pov
Nowhere, That was where I was going.
I was in class, learning. I didn't really care what we were learning, Didn't care if I failed the exam, the only thing that matters is my left wrist..
I glance at the clock, two minutes left. Miss Lowth hands us back the exam papers. I tuck the paper in the front pocket of my bag.
My stomach rumbles, and I think 'I'm excited for dinner'. Then as suddenly as the feeling came it left. I smile.
'Dismissed' says Miss Lowth from the top of the class.
Life on a spaceship is always the same. Six in the morning is breakfast, then school then dinner and then free time. I head for dinner like I have everyday for the past fifteen years. I sit down in my seat and eat my food.
As I enter my bedroom the feelings come again in waves, I sit down on my bed and fiddle with the metal band on my left wrist. I've been trying to break it ever since I have seen what feeling looks like.
People called it a mistake but a few months ago my band malfunctioned and I got to feel feelings. They were incredible, like a million stars exploding inside of me and filling all the void with something, I don't know with what.
Hundreds of years ago everyone had feelings, but the Mayor's great - great -great grandmother decided that everyone should be rid of them. We were never told the whole story.
We don't know why we left Ausin in the first place, but we did.
The bobby pin I'm using snaps. I groan and cursing Mayor Rebbeca I look around for another. I found one in my drawer and fiddle some more. I blink and the feelings are gone. Deciding that I need something bigger to break it,
I place the pin on my drawer, grab a bag and head to the gym.
As I walk through the cold and wide corridor I see Rachel, and remember that she fiddled with her band too, but a kid found out and she was locked away and came back with a full memory erase.
I reach the gym and look for something heavy, a five
kilogram ball should do the job, I look around to make sure nobody is looking and place it in my bag, Now I'm going somewhere.
I stay in the gym for about an hour so as to not be suspicious,
The kids talk in the corner about school and the learning of emotions. We learn a lot about emotions, probably to identify if anyone has broken their band. The band by the way is like a thick metal bracelet that's tied so tight to your left wrist, that it digs into the skin.
I walk to my door number four-hundred and six, and open it, I step in and close the door softly and only then do I turn on the bright light.
The ball rolls out of my bag as I drop it with a loud 'clang'. I quickly hide it and wait for any noise. After I'm certain nobody is going to open the door. I pick up the ball and bring it down on my left wrist. I nearly cry out from the pain. Wincing I look down at the now appearing blue bruise around the band. Groaning I hit it again, and again. Until the light is flashing red. It makes a loud siren sound and without thinking I race out of the room grabbing my emotion book.
I smash the band against the door and it falls silent. But not soon enough. I hear footsteps, my back against the wall, my face in the shadows.
'Who' Says someone's voice, scared. I frown, That's Captain Stanley Jr.
I tip toe, my back still pressed against the wall. I don't know where I'm going. As I reach the door to the gym I hear 'Find them'. Then there's shuffling of feet and silence.
