Today is the day I leave to go
back to North Carolina at the Tampico Resort. It's been nearly 10 years, being my first trip there was when I was 5. I'm very excited, especially now since I can actually remember and take in the beauty of the beach and the smoothie bar. When you're a kid, you don't really try to embrace it. Even with the time going by, I still remember that girl I met. We became pen pals, although we'd, or rather I had lost interest in keeping in touch and didn't have the time. But I'm lazy, so that could apply to anything.

"Dude, get your stuff and pack it in the car. We're late as usual." said my dad.
My dad isn't like other dads. He's not peppy at all. He cracks a ton of jokes, though, making some of us laugh but most of us e
ye roll.
"Yeah, yeah." I replied lazily.
I knew my mom would still be out of the house 20 minutes after everyone else.
We finally all packed in to our small rental car and drove off. Yeah, my dad doesn't like to waste miles.
If there's free time at all, I always listen to music, sometimes nonstop. I don't usually let people listen to my music, I think it's too personal.

As we continue driving, I gaze at the scenery outside my window. The slight breeze made a bush sway a little. I always point out small things like that in my mind.

"MALLORY! TURN YOUR MUSIC DOWN!" My sister, Julie exclaims.
"Turn your attitude down, it's too loud for me to handle, how bout' that?" I reply with snark.
She then hurls at me a bunch of insults and comebacks, which I ignore.
After falling asleep for I don't know how long, I rubbed at my blurry eyes to see a beach in the distance. Then after focusing my eyes, was actually right next to our car.
"Are we here?"
"Yeah, just need to check in now."
"Can we get food?" I begged. I love food.
"Yes, once we get to our hotel room." says my mom.
That's when my blood pressure went up the highest. The knowledge of eating gave me hope.
We walked in to a lavish lobby and had a nice lady check us in. Afterwards, she gave us our key to our beach house and we made our down the gravel path lines with white with fancy porches. That's what I loved about the way people could stay here at the Tampico Resort-you're not trapped. Part of being there is seeing the view of the beautiful lake just across where you lived.
"Start unpacking. It's 4:00 P.M. already. We're going to do stuff right away."
I felt a wave of excitement as I thought about all the things I have missed doing for 10 years. I'm going to love it here.
