Martha was brought up by awfully strict parents. Beauty standards were forced to be met. Martha was brainwashed into thinking society wouldn't accept her if her cheeks weren't as rosy as a rose, and her waist wasn't 9 inches thinner than normal.
Raising herself- as here parents weren't always around-had its pro's and con's. For example Martha knew had to prep herself well and do many chores for herself. On the other hand, she had

However, something cherished was her silky, flowing hair that tangoed in the wind, along with the ruffles of her precious, pure white gown.
