Y/n's POV

As a child, I didn't think life would be so cruel. I just wanted to play around and enjoy life. I grew up idolizing many of the powerful shinobi in the leaf village such as my Aunt Tsunade, the Hokage, and my mother. I was sure I could be like them since I was always at the top of my classes. I was convinced that life was great and always would be, that nothing bad would happen. Until that unfaithful day.

"Did you hear? The Genjitsu Clan was wiped out!"

"I wonder who did it."

"I heard that the only survivor was a little girl."

The Genjitsu clan was one of many clans that were always peaceful. They always wanted to deal with things without resorting to violence and didn't have any enemies. They were very loyal to the leaf village. I didn't really know anyone from the Genjitsu Clan but I did know my mom had some sort of business with them. I just didn't know that business would get her accused of their annihilation.

"It's alright mom. I know you didn't have anything to do with it," I say. My mother didn't move an inch and kept her eyes down on the table.

"C'mon mom. Everything will be fine in the end. That's what you always tell me." I say grabbing her hands. Still, not a word. I try to get a good look at my mom's face but her hair covered it. After a few moments of me starting at her with concern, she finally looks up. My eyes widen when a tear slides down the side of her face.

"M-mom?"

Her face was filled with guilt and regret.

"You didn't do it, right?"

She didn't answer. My throat was starting to swell up. There's no way she had anything to do with it.

"Mom please tell me you weren't involved with it!" I beg not being able to handle this anymore.

"I'm sorry."

I then hear banging at our front door making me flinch.

"Open up! We're here to take M/n L/n into custody for the annihilation of the Genjitsu Clan," a man spoke. No, this couldn't be happening! My mom was innocent!

"Y/n. Please don't follow me when I get taken away. And don't try to help. This is for the best," she spoke. She started walking towards the door and I didn't stop her, or I couldn't. I wanted to move but my legs wouldn't budge. I wanted to call out to her but my throat was still swelled up. The whole situation confused me. I didn't understand what she was trying to do or say.

I watched helplessly as my mom opened the door and as the shinobi restrained her. The door closed and I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding. What am I going to do?

With my mom being held in custody, I had to do many things on my own. I had hope though. She was going to be innocent, come back home, and everything would go back to normal. What a great lie that I wrapped myself in.

School didn't make things any better. Actually, no one did. All the people that I thought were my friends now looked down on me. I got bullied and was called the daughter of a murderer. The teachers didn't do anything about it. In fact, they just watched and looked at me with disgust. School didn't feel like a safe and fun place anymore.

Going outside in general felt like hell. Everyone would stare at me with sickening looks on their faces. They avoided any interaction with me. They didn't even try to hide their hatred for me. From not even getting near me, to pulling their kids away from me, and calling me names. I wasn't even allowed to go to the places I would usually like to go to.
