tony and i were driving up the hill following the gps directions heading for the new bar to meet up with katie and jenn. as we approached our destination we saw the two girls waiting outside for us, shortly after we parked the car and walked towards them.
"hey guys," tony said going to give both girls a hug. i smiled and waved but didn't touch them. i don't really like hugs. i mean they're nice i guess but not really my thing. "are we ready to go inside ?" katie asked excited, jenn chuckled and gazed at katie. it's so obvious that jenn is in love with her but katie was so oblivious and jenn was so scared to even tell her.
"you guys go ahead i'll catch up, just gonna take a quick smoke break." they nodded and walked in. i took out a single from my pack of cigs. i know it's bad to smoke these things but they keep me sane.
i pat down my pockets to find that i left my lighter at home. "fuck."
"need a light?"
i turn to see the stranger who spoke those words, and what a beautiful stranger he is, holding out one of those antique metal lighters.
he was very tall, with long black hair, a black leather jacket and black leather motorcycle boots. he looked like a rock god from the 70s if you asked me. he was gorgeous.
"yeah thanks."
the stranger lit my cig while intently looking at me. "you here to see the show," he asked. nodding my head as i took a drag and exhaled in his face.
"well, i hope you enjoy it doll face." he said while walking into the bar with a smirk.
hmm. what a jerk.
finishing my last drag, i threw the stub on the floor and smashed it with my foot then headed inside.
from the looks of it , the place is really nice. right as you walk in there's the stage and the main floor and off to the side the bar. i made my way to that.
"what can i get you," the bartender said.
"uh, whiskey. thanks."
when she handed me the cup i wasted no time downing the strong liquor, giving me the burning sensation in the back of my throat that i know and love. i get up from my seat and went to find tony and the girls, who were near the middle of the crowd.
tony spotted me first, guessing because he was looking for me too. he gave me a slight smile and waved me over.
"what took you so long," he asked putting his arms around my shoulder. "i went to the bar and got a drink."
he nodded his head.
the lights dimmed signaling the band that was playing tonight was about to start. when the lights turned back on i saw the guy from earlier sitting on a wooden stool on the stage with a cherry red electric guitar. the band started and instantly i knew the song they were playing.
wild is the wind by bowie.
the man started singing, his voice was magical... and it was as if he knew i was watching him because he found me. then we made eye contact for what had seemed like forever. no one paid attention to the interaction between us though. they were either too drunk or too high to notice, including the friends i came with.
it was as if everything disappeared around me and it was only him and i. like he was only singing to me.
what was this feeling?
we never broke eye contact. i didn't even realize i was holding my breath until the song was over. then i decided to break our heated match of the staring contest.
"wow he has an amazing voice." i hear katie say to jenn. indeed he does. he's breathtaking honestly.
what the actual fuck. why am i thinking like this.
the band on stage sung four more songs before they finally got off. i headed straight to the bar needing another drink ... or ten. why does that led zeppelin wannabe have this type of affect over me.
"so did you end up liking the show," i hear from behind. i turn to see no other than my beautiful stranger. putting down my glass i gave him a smirk and nodded my head.
"you were immaculate sir, very beautiful voice." he turned towards the bar with a silly little smile on his face. "glad you liked it."
he pulled a pre-rolled joint from the inside pocket of his leather jacket then gave me a nod, "wanna get out of here," he asked.
i know i shouldn't leave my friends. but there's something pulling me towards this man. something i can't fight with.
i look over to see tony and the girls dancing, having a wonderful time without me. it wouldn't hurt to leave. they probably wouldn't even notice. i don't know what i'm feeling , and why this beautiful man is making me feel this way. but i need to find out.
"yeah sure let's get out of here."
he held out his hand and i took it. a moment later were out the club doors and into his 1978 red firebird. he lights the joint and hands it to me.
"i never got your name," i said realizing i left with a complete stranger.
"vince."
i pass the joint back after a couple hits and looked towards him. "nice to meet you, i'm chris."
