Y/n Pov

Father! You're back!! I missed you so much!" I shouted while my dad walked through the door with a startled look on his face, most likely caused by my sudden excitement.

He came home after being gone for a few weeks, traveling to different lands.

Before he could even put down his heavy luggage, I ran over to him and hugged him, knocking his things out of his hands, but he hugs back anyway.

"Where did you go this time? Will you be staying longer? Did something happen for you to come home so early? Did you bring back any cool herbs or potions?" I excitedly questioned him while he picks up and sets aside all his luggage.

He looked at me and gave me a warm but tired smile and chuckled before saying, "Whoa Y/n I will explain everything after dinner, just slow down with the questions. I just arrived"

I was practically bouncing around with happiness since my father returned from his long journey two whole days early. Sadly before I could ask anything else, my mother interrupted.

"Y/n stop bothering your father, let him rest, and go outside to do your chores."

I skipped out of the house and around to the back, to my favorite part of the house, the chicken coop to feed the chickens.

I heard the sound of my parents talking. I was about to listen in before suddenly little fluffy bundles of cuteness attacked me, distracting me from their muffled conversation.

James (Father) Pov

As I saw Y/n skipping happily towards the door, I wasn't so sure that they were ready for the murder that would happen tomorrow.

"Sarah (mother)... do you think they're ready to attend Count Lucio's gladiator match? With all of the death and bloodshed? They seem so young and innocent. I'm not sure that they are ready." I said while looking out the window, greeted by the sight of my sweet child being attacked by fluffy little chicks.

"Oh, James... I don't know... I think it's best to do it as early as possible. One day they will have to get used to this to fit into society... It will make them strong." Sarah replied

"I know... I'm just not sure if they are ready to see all of the cruel and horrible things happening in the world, especially with Count Lucio as the ruler..."

In our messed up city, it is almost mandatory to go to these 'games' that Count Lucio hosts. Those who don't at least attend often get thrown in prison for 'beraying the Count'. It is frowned upon to not be able to go and those people are often outcast for being 'weak'. Although people fear to admit it, everyone hates these murderous events.

??? Pov (y' all probably know)

It is dark... very dark... It's almost calming. Just one window for light barred up with thick metal bars. I hear other prisoners quietly talking to each other. Sometimes the guards would bang on the bars if they were too loud. I sat in my cell... alone... but I prefer it that way. As long as I'm locked up and isolated I can't hurt anyone anymore than I already have.

The moist air and cold stones are uncomfortable, even after spending countless nights hunched over on the ground, it's not something that's easy to get used to with all of the bleeding scars on my body, earned as a reminder of what I have done. I deserved every bit of it. The chains that held me a

Still, I would rather sit in the dungeons all day than hurt someone.
