Chapter .5
I listened as the foot steps sounded over head. I didn't know what to do. We were trapped!
I hugged the little girl to my chest and shushed her silently.
"I'm scared, Noah." She breathed so quietly I hardly heard her.
I put my finger to my lips to show her to be quiet.
"But I'm scared." She said again.
This time I nod to show her I understand.
Her round brown eyes stair deep into mine. She is so brave and has been through so much at such a young age. She is only eight but yet she has lived in the worst possible situation you could think of.
In fact... I don't think Allison has ever had a normal life. We've always been on the run from the people who killed my Dad. They think we know something about my Dad's big "break through" and if we're being honest here, I didn't know history teachers could have break throughs big enough to get them killed.
A little voice in the back of my head says my Dad is, I mean was, alot more than a History Teacher.
I'm ripped from my thoughs when Allison sneezes. I look at her with wide, alarmed eyes. Tears slide silently down her face. I clamp my hand over her mouth and hold her closer to me.
"Did you hear that?" The first voice demands.
"Yes sir!" Said the other.
"What was that?" The frist demands.
"Sounded like a sneeze, Sir!"
"Were from?"
"I'm guessing it was from under the floor or in the walls or something." A board girls voice said.
"You will say 'Sir' whenever you adress me or you will be sent back to base!" The Captin said.
"Sir yes sir." The girls voice said boardly.
"Gas masks on! We are going to smoke this place out! If those kids don't show themselves soon, their going to suffer!" Foot steps tread over our heads and out the door.
I release my hold and Allison and open the hatch door, I peer out and then climb out. I pull Allison up and then sneak to the window.
I load the gun and take aim at the gas tank of closest truck. I was about to pull the trigger when a voice interupted me.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." It was the girl's voice.
I whip around and take aim, "Don't. Say. A word." I said. And then I was speechless because the girl was very... eyecatching.
Thick black hair tied on the top of her head, thick side-bangs cover the left side of her face. Torn leggings clothe her legs and a black short-sleeve clothes her torso. She has on leather boots that go up to her knees, black finger-less gloves that go to her elbow, and a pistol strapped to the outside of her right thigh.
She was pretty intimidating.
I move Allison behind me and glare at the girl. "Say another word and I will shoot." I threatened.
"Oh relax, pretty boy, it's not like I'm about to rat you out or anything." She snaps her gum.
"I said don't. talk." I growled.
"Noah," Allison grips the back of my hoodie.
"Hush Allison." I hiss.
"What do you want?" I demanded. The girl just shrugs.
"Noah...." Allison tugs harder on my shirt.
"Allison, quiet!" I demand.
The girl grins.
"NOAH!" Allison screams as her grip on my hoodie is ripped away.
"NO!" I pull the trigger but the girl moves just enough that the bullet only nicks her shoulder.
"Put her down!" I yell and whip around, aiming the pistol at whatever moved.
"If I were you, Noah, I would think a moment." The Captin's voice said. I look for him and am horrifed when I see he has Allison at gun-point. "Give the gun to Vanessa, and come out of the shack slowly." He instructs.
I look at the girl behind me. She is leaning against the wall, sweat beading her forehead, holding out her hand. I throw the gun at her as hard as I can. She catches it with a pain stricked face. "Dick." She growls.
"Love you too, Vanessa." I smirked and walked out to the clearing.
