Chapter 3
LISA
Closing my eyes tightly, I refused to wake up. From the ache of my back and the numbness of my left arm, I was still in this thing I called a nightmare. Groaning when I couldn't get myself to sleep, I opened one eye to find myself in a room.
There were a small table and two chairs on one side, both wooden, and a cabinet beside the door. The bed lacked cushion evident on the soreness of my body and a small window let sunlight in, illuminating the room.
I sighed as I slowly sat up. The floor creaked on the weight of my feet, turning my eyes toward the window. Wiping my face with my hand, I stood to look outside. The room must be on the second floor as I surveyed my surroundings.
I didn't get to see the whole of the village considering that I embarrassingly fainted in front of them. I winced when my mind replayed what happened, adding to my humiliation.
The village grounds were bricked and wet, telling me it rained when I was unconscious. The hanoks were looked a little modern with their two-storey design but still kept their traditional sense.
I caught sight of Lynx along with Draco, talking, a few meters from where I was, just beside a concrete well situated in the middle of the village. The knob made a sound and I veered to face it as it opened. I gulped as Corvus peeked inside with a small smile, knocking.
"I bet you're hungry," he said as he opened the door wide, making me stare at the tray of food in his hands. Despite my grumbling stomach, I kept quiet as he set the food down the table. "Here's a change of clothes for you," he said as I watched her laid the clothes down on my bed.
"Come on," he urged me to sit on a chair as he occupied the other. He was stripped bare of his armor, wearing a white shirt that revealed his lean arms, a pair of loose dress pants, and rattan slippers.
I walked slowly, my mouth salivating at the delicious smell of corn soup and the sight of freshly baked bread and Muscat grapes, sitting with my eyes fixated on it. I heard him chuckle, my shoulders slumping in embarrassment. "She starved you, huh?" He said and I looked down, fidgeting with my fingers.
"N-not really," I replied, almost grimacing at my small voice. He nodded at my peripheral vision, crossing his arms in his chest. "Give her some time to warm up to you," he said before gesturing for me to start eating.
"She's kind underneath those walls but I suppose you already know that." I could hear the smile in his voice as I took hold of the spoon. I stopped momentarily, facing him with furrowed eyebrows, "can you tell me why I'm here?"
I swallowed the lump in my throat as I looked at him in desperate need of answers. "Am I still in a vision that is taking too long to end or is this really real?" I gritted my teeth, refusing to get swallowed by another panic attack.
"Taste my cooking," he replied and I almost glared at him if not for the kind smile that he was giving me. I lifted the spoon and sighed happily at the heavenly taste that touched my tongue. This is real and I sighed in realization.
"Why am I here?" I asked in curiosity as I broke the bread and dipped it in the warm soup. Corvus shrugged nonchalantly, "there is this woman raised in a strange calm world. You'll need a door to get there and past that blinding light, your feet will lead you to her. Once you do, bring her and everything will fall back into place."
I stared at him in wonder and he smiled, "those were the words of a woman Lynx encountered."
I nodded in thought, remembering Lynx's mumble about believing a woman. "But why is it me?" I asked, frustrated that I was caught in the middle of this because of some woman I didn't even know.
