As heavy, angry rain pelted down onto glass paned windows, Feliciano was wide awake, shaking on his bed with his duvet wrapping him up for 'protection' in the dark. Feliciano had an extreme fear of thunder and lightning, although he could never explain why, he just did. At times like these, he would run to Ludwig's room and hide in his bed, hugging the taller male, but this time he felt as if Ludwig wouldn't see him as strong. Yes, Feliciano wasn't the best or strongest fighter, by far, but he just wanted to prove to Ludwig that he was at least a little bit strong, but he could never prove that he was strong if Ludwig knew he cowered in fear from a silly little-.
"Ah!!" Feliciano's thoughts were interrupted by another crash of lightning bolting through the sky, sounding as if the sky itself was being torn apart.
Feliciano's grip on his duvet that covered him was stronger now, as he continued to shake from fear on his bed. He felt a stray tear escape and run down his cheek, before jumping off and hopping onto his protective blanket.
He was afraid of a silly storm, and for once, he hated that. He never really hated something, it wasn't like him, but not this. He hated the fact that he couldn't rest, or that the storm was the only thing on his mind, or even the feeling of helplessness and terror he felt because of this weather. He wanted nothing more than to be strong, and to not be scared of something so simple, such as this, but that was impossible now, all that was on his mind was the raging storm outside, that apparently never ceased to stop.
Feliciano grabbed his pillow and hugged it close to his chest, which served as a strategy to muffle his sobs. He definitely couldn't go to Ludwig now, not whilst he was crying. He honestly would, he really would, but he just doesn't want to seem like the most useless and weakest thing to ever exist.
Suddenly, everything had gone silent for a moment, just long enough for Feliciano to hear the faintest sound of running water. Someone had turned a tap on.
Feliciano froze, and slowly looked up at his door, and into the dark hallway. The logical cause would be that it was Ludwig getting a drink, but being consumed by fear, Feliciano thought that someone, or something else was in the house. Right then and there his thoughts were interrupted again, when another crash of lighting struck though the sky, making Feliciano stiffen up and squeak out in fear, before hiding his face in his pillow that he was clutching.
What Feliciano didn't hear though, was the slight creaking of floorboards getting closer and closer to his doorway, before they finally stopped. As another lighting bolt hit, the light quickly illuminated the tall figure standing in his doorway.
It was Ludwig.
The blonde haired male stood at the doorframe of Feliciano's room, and sighed lightly, but carefully walked over to Feliciano's bed, and placed the glass of water down on the bedside table.
Feliciano heard the glass being placed on the table, and very slowly peered over his pillow, only to find a rather tired, but kind-faced Ludwig staring back at him. He jumped back slightly, as he wasn't expecting Ludwig to be in his room, a few stray tears, jumping off of his face in the process.
"A-Ah! L-Ludwig! W-Why are you here?... Did I disturb you?" Feliciano kept stumbling over his words, still shaking from fear.
Ludwig shook his head, "Nein, but you seemed upset, so I brought you some water, incase that helps." He gestured over to the glass on the table besides him.
Feliciano made an 'o' shape with his mouth, and then smiled, before patting the space in front of him on the bed, signaling for Ludwig to sit down, who sat down besides him with no complaint.
"Hey, uh Ludwig?"
"Ja?"
"D-Do you think you could spend the night with me please?..." Feliciano's voice went quieter, but a higher, more squeaky pitch, as the words came out of his mouth before he thought about them.
Ludwig sighed, but it didn't take long for his response, "Ja, sure, but only for tonig-"
And another crash of lighting ripped through the sky, making Feliciano wail in fear again, as his instincts took over, and he hugged Ludwig tightly, hiding his face in Ludwig's chest. Everything finally clicked with Ludwig, why Feliciano had seemed so shaken up, why he was crying, and why he had asked him to stay with him for the rest of the night.
Ludwig shuffled about slightly, getting a little more comfortable, before pulling Feliciano close, and softly stroke his hair, trying to sooth Feliciano's nerves. The brunette smiled against the taller male's chest, and his grip tightened more comfortingly around Ludwig's waist.
It didn't take long for the smaller one of the two to eventually drift off to sleep, as he felt safe and protected in Ludwig's arms.
Perhaps Ludwig wouldn't be mad at him for being scared of lightning after all, and that is something Feliciano loved.
