The lock of the entrance door softly clicks into place as the carpet envelops my feet, discarded heels clattering on the floor distracting me from muffled murmurs coming from the living room. Well, my plan to cram something into my stomach and then immediately head to bed can bid me goodbye.

We have guests - just what I fucking need at one in the morning.

I apply pressure to my temples with the pads of my fingers and release a sigh that, although inaudible, holds the power to incinerate an entire continent. Forcing my facial muscles into a polite smile, I roll my shoulders to straighten my posture before making my way down the hallway in a couple of long strides.

"Hi, boys." My voice holds serenity in its tone despite the curling of my stomach that wants to coerce me into crumbling on the floor from exhaustion. "Care for some food? I see you already got drinks," I add, nonchalantly leaning my figure against the doorframe to support myself while assessing the space and people dwelling in it.

Circles of red wine that glided down the bottle as the alcohol was carelessly poured into glasses stained a few sheets of paper spread across the table, the rosy colour decorating my boyfriend's neck and cheeks a sign to whose tongue tasted most of it. The tips of my manicured nails gradually dig into the flesh of my biceps.

Yoongi's silver locks are sticking to his forehead like tentacles of an octopus that's holding onto a reef to keep itself alive throughout the unexpected surges of waves. "I'm good, kitten. What about you, Jae? Want anything?" The slur is evident in his speech as his gaze flickers to the stranger sitting beside him.

There's an ambience of timidness surrounding the man that doesn't endure Yoongi's onslaught in the form of an encouraging bump in the shoulder. "Um, no Adaline-ssi. Thank you for the offer," He manages to choke the words through his teeth, pulling at the hem of his scrunched shirt and patting down the more stubborn creases.

"Kitten, you don't remember meeting Ryuk Jae at Tati's wedding?" Yoongi squashes his cheek with his fist once he rests his elbow on the backrest of the sofa, his heavy eyelids concealing the veneer coating his irises. "It was a brief greeting though, I'm not surprised you don't." His mumble contains an inkling of a sneer.

"The nature of my job entails meeting people, it's a given I won't memorise every encounter in my life." Cracking my knuckles to release some of the tension building in my nerves like a tower of playing cards that only needs a light breath to collapse, I tilt my head to the side and glide the tip of my tongue across my inner cheek.

A cautious smile surfaces on Jae-ssi's lips as he swallows. "I don't mind it, all of us were more than tipsy at that point," He whispers without Yoongi's coercion and lifts his shoulders in a bashful shrug, brushing a few wild strands of hair the colour of fresh charcoal off of his forehead. "We just said hello."

My tone remains phlegmatic despite the apologetic statement I succeed creating in the depths of my brain. "Is that right? I'm sorry I can't recall the exact details, but I won't make any excuses since it's a useless effort. Please don't take it personally, I met over thirty relatives from both sides during that evening."

"Oh, I'm just a family friend, certainly not a relative. My parents and I getting invited was a simple act of courtesy." It seems as if he'll pull out a white flag out of his ass and wave it in front of me to reveal his submissive role in this conversation, reminding me of that one client who has to be degraded into orgasm.

A shadow of darkness like autumn's decaying leaves forms around Yoongi, rising the delicate hair along the nape of my neck. "Why do you give off the impression of someone willing to murder anyone who dares to look their way?" I shift his attention to me, watching him lean towards the coffee table.
