He loved winning. Whenever there was a defeat, he'd want to play a game he knew he could beat me at. After a while, I got pretty good too and we were always coming in even.

I didn't know how to tell him that he'd never beat me again. I knew it'd break his fragile heart to find out that when we weren't together, I was improving on my skills.

Because, to be honest, I loved winning too.

"It's three to three! Who ever wins this round can eat all my fruit snacks." The excitement and confidence Jinyoung held is what made me throw the game. There is no way I could take his fruit snacks. He loved those. "What did you become such a loser?"

But not all the time.

"Have no idea." The bus came to a stop right in front of the school and students began piling off one by one. As usual, Jinyoung got off first and waited for me on the sidewalk until people finally realized that it was my turn.

We spent the majority of the morning walking from one end of the school to the other simply to avoid being the first ones in class. This walk also reminded me that I'll never forget the fact that he's also extremely popular.

"There's no way you're missing this party. You've been MIA since the beginning of the season." Jackson continued to pressure and poke at Jinyoung even though he physically expressed his distaste for parties. "Everybody fucking wants you there."

"Okay, fine. I must obey the captains orders."

That's all it took for Jackson to run off to bother someone else. I couldn't help but roll my eyes at how bothersome the guy could be at times. "You're really going to a party two nights before the first game. Last time you had a beer, you googled how to marry your dog."

"Dude, I'd do that when I'm sober." He brushed it off with a laugh although I was very serious. "Baseball isn't a passion anyways. Who cares if I make one fumble-"

"Uhm, the entire school! You're a way better player than any of them and you know it. The only reason you turned down the offer to be captain was because you think that way. You used to have a passion then it just vanished."

He shook his head in shame. "Sometimes that's best, though."

"She wasn't good enough for you anyway. She said it herself."

We shared our secret handshake before parting ways to get to our classes. I watched him walk away slowly as if he was thinking about who I think he's thinking about. This was his constant mood these days whenever he's reminded of her.

Someone who should have always been thought of as a friend.
