STILES STILINSKI WAS AN IDIOT, BUT ORION ALREADY KNEW THIS. She knew it when they first met at Jules' thirteenth birthday party, and he was too afraid to go ice skating because he thought he'd fall through the ice or when he tripped over his shoelaces, landing face-first in his cake just a few months later. And she knew when he dragged her out of bed to look for half a dead body──twice. Coming up with silly, not thought-out plans was second nature for the Stilinski boy, something Orion was getting accustomed to. So, it wasn't a surprise when his grand plan to teach Scott how to control his shift was to key the side of a truck, resulting in Scott getting beat up and them getting detention.

Harris ordered Scott and Stiles to sit together at a desk, allowing Orion to sit by herself at the table in front of them. She kept herself busy by playing tic-tac-toe by herself on the blacktop, the simple game keeping her company. Technically, Orion was supposed to be scribbling down whatever Mr. Harris told them to write, but the words had long left her mind, and she couldn't be bothered to ask what they were. She had gotten used to the quietness of the room, the only sounds being Scott ruffling the tissue pressed against his bleeding nose and the water dripping from the tap next to her.

"Excuse me, sir?" Orion heard Scott say from behind, gaining Mr. Harris' attention. She craned her neck, looking over at the teenage boy and the older man. "Uh, I know it's detention and all, but, uh... I'm supposed to be at work, and I don't want to get fired," he explained with hopeful eyes, expecting Mr. Harris to at least hear him out. The chemistry teacher looked over at him with a blank expression before swiftly looking back down at the papers in front of him.

Not even a second after the minor conversation, Orion could feel a pair of eyes bore into the back of her skull as Scott and Stiles whispered amongst themselves. She didn't have to look back to know who was staring at her, but she did it anyway.

At this, Stiles swiftly averted his gaze, clearing his throat as he placed the pencil between his fingers to pretend that he'd been writing the whole time. However, Stiles Stilinski wasn't known for swiftness, confidence, or being calm. Believing they were talking about her, Orion leaned back in her seat, desperate to pick up any part of their conversation.
