I wiped the crust out of my eyes and fumbled into the living room full of colored balloons. People are beginning to realize I had awoken.
"There's the birthday girl!" Dads said.
"Your a big six years now!" Mom said.
"Yep, I am." I smile cheerfully at my surroundings right before my older brother John burst out of his bedroom and began popping the balloons that were floating around on the floor like Godzilla, he had caught me by surprise. "Those are mine!!" I yell.
"Don't be mad I was only having fun, see!" He lifted a balloon from the floor and rubbed it on the top of my head, then laughed when the static kept it on the ceiling.
"Cake time, come blow out your candles!!" mom said lighting the candles on my Rugrats cake.
"Make a wish." My papaw Samp said. "Wish for twenty dollars!" He then whispered into my ear.
"Okay, I wish for twenty dollars!!" As I go-to blow out my candles a gush of wind from behind me blew them out, I turned to see my older brother standing behind me laughing. "Hey, that was my wish!" I said angrily.
"Okay kids, let's do it again, and John you stand over there!" Mom demanded while relighting the candle. Finally, after blowing my candle out my papaw hands me a twenty-dollar bill, and then it's his turn, my brother John. My mom scoots my cake out of the way and pushes his forward and we watch as he makes his wish.
"What'd you wish for?" My dad asks.
"If I tell you, then it won't come true." He laughs again.
