Now what holiday special

Hi!! It's been a long time!!! I'm so sorry, school has been very har and I haven't had a lot of inspiration for this story. Anyway, I thought it might be nice to write a holiday special! This special will take place the Christmas of 2018, Aurora's first Christmas without her dad. Also I'm so sorry and all the mistakes!!!!

*December 23rd*

Me and my family always used to be crazy about the holidays. Are house would be decked out with Christmas decorations and we would have a different holiday tradition almost every day. One of our traditions was that we always decorate the Christmas tree on December 1st, but it's the 23rd and our apartment is scrubbed clean of any thing Christmas. We are going to do a couple of things on Christmas Eve and FaceTime with my grandparents on Christmas, but other then that no one has said anything.

Me and Jake have been dating for two months and it has been really good. When we first met at the NYAFA (New York academy of arts) summer dance program he wouldn't stop making fun of me for the way I looked, but when we both got picked to be in a music video and I got a make over from Maya's mom, I don't know... I guess he started really seeing me.

But... when my dad died back when we were just friends but I couldn't talk to him about it, and I feel like he didn't want me to talk to him about it, I still can't talk to him about it. When we dance there is complete trust between us. I don't know how to describe it, it's like there is no one else but us, us and the dance. When we dance everything comes easy, I don't need to think about what I'm doing or what comes next, it's just us living in the moment.

Our teachers at school say we are the best duo at the school, that's why we are always partners for whatever assignment we are doing in class. He is very sweet to me most times but sometimes he- oh no! I was supposed to meet him at the coffee place by school in 5 minutes!

I quickly text Jake then get up and change into an outfit that he would like before grabbing my little backpack and running out the door. The cold air cuts through my lungs the second I stepped outside. When it started getting cold I was miserable, I was used to the nice California weather, but now I embrace the cold. It makes the air feel cleaner, gives you the opportunity to ware layers, and most importantly the cold makes coffee tastes even better. Also who doesn't love snow?

It takes me 15 minutes to get there. Normally it would take much longer, because the subway stop nearest the coffee place is so crowded, but I got off a stop early and ran the rest of the way.

When I can see the coffee place in the distance I slow my pace and glance at the store windows as I walk by, making sure nothing is out of place. When I'm satisfied I walk into the store.

I immediately spot him texting on his phone at the corner table. I swallow hard then walk over to him. "Jake. Hi, I'm so sorry I'm late, I lost track of ti-"

"Don't make excuses princess." He says looking up from his phone. "You were late. I need to be focused on getting into college. I don't have a lot of spare time, so I don't appreciate you wasting it." He says in a even voice as he stares at me making me feel small.

"I'm really sorry Jake, it won't happen again I promise." I reach across the table and hold one of his hands in both of mine.

"You were late and I didn't know when you were going to get here so I made plans with Alex. He and I are going to watch a movie." Alex is his friend that goes to another school, they hand out all the time but I have never met him.

"No, no please! We have been planning today for weeks, could you call him and reschedule? I just need three hours with you. Please?" I beg.

"If, you let me pick what choreography we do next time." He says raising an eyebrow. I always pick the choreography for our dances because he try's to pack way to much into one dance, and so whenever he picks we end up getting a worse grade.
