In days of yore.
In one of the vicinities in Gunderley, lives a penurious husbandless-broad with her only daughter. Their lives are destitute, they barely even have a livable place of residence leading the two of them to stay in the poorest area of town.
The seventeen year old daughter, Louna despises their situation but she can't do anything for she is just an uneducated bairn. Everyday she goes to the richer side of town and hopes she is and could be one of those people.
The mother, Annaliese scolds Louna every single time she goes there for what she will only get from those wealthy people is humiliation and pity-looking faces.
Louna never listens, for she's not only going there for observing and hoping to be like those people. She is seeing someone who happens to be her friend, her boon companion, her playfellow and her benefactor. Louna and her friend, Louis found their own sanctuary when they were only twelve year olds and everyday they would go in there and talk about almost every happening in their lives. Louis always brings food and water for Louna and Louna brings trash papers for Louis in return.
Annalise never thought of her daughter to have friends, especially with those who are like Louis. When Annalise found out about her daughter's clandestine meetings with Louis, she stopped her from going out of the house.
As the mother works throughout the day, and Louis waiting for Louna in their hideaway, she is left with hatred, disrelish, rancor and bitterness.

Sevenshire, GunderleyIt has been God knows how long since I have been locked up in this revolting room, and I miss my freedom awfully. I don't understand why I am not allowed to be friends with a wealthy person. What will I tell Louis? He is probably waiting for me, isn't he? Oh how I miss the biscuits and clean water that he would bring me. If I only have the strength and will-power to runaway, I will definitely do it, even if it'll tear my mother into pieces. Well, she has nothing good to offer to me.
"Louna?" Speaking of the devil, she's home. The damaged wooden floor creaks as I hear my mother's footsteps gets louder and louder in every move.
"I'm home, sweetie. I brought you your favourite bread." She asseverates as her not so gentle hands find the rope to untie me, and as I was fully untied, she then removes the cloth that is tied to cover my mouth.
I let myself take a deep breath as I look at my mother furiously. She notices my gaze and glares at me. A glare so scary and terrifying.
"I know what you are thinking and you will never get out because no one wants a brainless ignorant poor girl like you." I can't believe those words slipped from my mother's mouth. It hurts like a billion needles struck at me. I can't believe her. My chest begins to feel heavy and my eyes starts to water.
"Oh no, my baby, don't cry. Mommy's here." She utters softly, as if she said nothing to me.
My eyes can't hold it anymore and I started crying. My mom comes near me and I back away.
"What are you?" I interrogated her as she widens her arms to hug me. I push her away and begins to walk out. She immediately grabs my hand and the rope to tie me again. I'm not gonna let her win so I pushed her hard and threw the glass at her that is just on the table.
