"He agreed, but he thought about it more than I was hoping for""Well, it is Todoroki who we're referring to. As you said, he likes doing things on his own, so I doubt he is a fan of this assignment."
"I guess you're right. I'm going back to sit with him."
Everyone moved their desk to be closer to their partners so you and Todoroki did the same, clearly uncomfortable. You have never been this relatively close to him so you couldn't help but notice how nice he smelled, like peppermint and pinecones. "The assignment is simple. You are going to be given a unique situation where someone is in danger and you and your partner have to come up with a way to get that person out of danger incorporating both of your quirks." The room filled with murmurs, especially Deku's, with people already discussing ideas without even knowing what they will get. Everyone got their papers and Mr. Aizawa went to sleep after explaining we had the rest of the class to complete it.
"Alright do you want to read it?" you asked trying to be polite but you knew he didn't really care about who reads.
"No, it's fine you go ahead. Y/N, right?"
"Yeah, Y/N L/N"
You begin to read trying to not crack your voice because of your nerves since you could feel Todoroki's glare. "Someone is trapped in a flooding basement with water constantly flowing in through the broken pipes. Using your quirk and your partner's, how will you execute the rescue mission?" you read, quickly coming up with a solution.
"Alright, in case you didn't know my quirk already-"
"Telekinesis"
You were surprised he knew considering you don't really show it off or talk about it. The only con of it is that it gives you headaches when you use it for too long "R-right. Using your ice quirk you can close up the water pipe and then I'll be able to safely bring the citizen towards us and stop the water from reaching the main floor."
"Sounds good to me. I'll write it down since you already read."
You couldn't help but notice his nice handwriting. He was already a well put together guy so this didn't surprise you. He always carried himself well. You both were the first to finish the assignment so you had some time for yourselves, however, this meant more awkward silence. He seemed to want to avoid it and just pulled out his book again. You left your sketchbook at the dorms since you were in a hurry so there wasn't much for you to do.
"What are you reading?" you asked trying to break the silence.
"A slice of life manga" he replied with his eyes still on the paper.
"Oh, nice. I enjoyed those too but I'm more into action and horror."
"I see"
He kept replying without looking at you so you decide to leave him alone since you started to feel annoying. Soon the bell rang and everyone submitted their work and headed to lunch.
