"Hey mom! How much longer til' we're there?" Scotty groans next to me. "Shut up Scotty! We're here." I swatted his arm and point at the house that we just parked infront of. I was kinda glad it wasn't a apartment this time. This way I get some more privacy. I got out of the car and walked to the back of the U-haul truck that pulled up behind us. I grabbed my 5 boxes and headed inside. One at a time of course. I packed heavy and didn't risk hurting myself when I just got here. "Abby! Come help me!" I turned around after setting my last box inside the house. Scotty had 3 boxes towered on top of each other. I grabbed 2 to make sure his small body didn't break. I giggled and went inside. Scotty and I raced to pick rooms. Being older I persuaded him to give me the bigger room with it's own bathroom. I had unpacked most of the boxes. My dad had brought my mattress in when I had a bright idea. Before this I didn't have a bed frame, but I saw a few pallets around leaning on the house. I finished unpacking and making my bed when I ran outside. I grabbed the pallets and brought them to the garage. Before I could even start my mom walked out. "Hey honey! Ooh already up to another great plan I see." I shrugged it off and said, "yeah I'm gonna make a bed frame." She smirked and got in the car. Probably to go grocery shopping. I scrambled through the boxes to find some sand paper. I started to stand it all down so I didn't get any splinters. It started to get dark when I was halfway through. Mom was home by now, so I closed the garage door and went I inside. "Hey honey!" My dad chirped from his spot on the couch. We sat there watching baseball until my mom called for dinner. We talked and finished when I went to bed. I got ready when my dad came in. "Now mom's saying the same thing to Scotty. We want you both to make some friends. Get in trouble and what the heck date some boys! Now how many fathers would say that?" I giggled and said, "none, but you." He nodded and we pinky promised like always. Finishing it off with a kiss on our thumbs and we went to bed peacefully.
Tomorrow I'm gonna wake up early to work on my pallets and finish decorating my room. Then if I have time I'll try to get dad to spend time with me away from work.
I woke up from my slumber from Scotty jumping on me. "Wake up!" I groaned and threw a pillow at him knocking him to the ground. I got outta bed and headed toward my bathroom and got ready. Scotty beat me downstairs and was halfway done with breakfast when I started. "Scotty. Wanna help me make my pallets?" He shrugged and said, "sure, why not." We walked out to the garage and lifted the door in the driveway. I grabbed the other pallets and told him to sand them, while I started on getting the right mixture to stain them. I finally decided on a lighter maple color and right before I was gonna stain it I saw a boy from his house with a baseball glove and bat. I questioned where he was headed to so early. I went back to work and when Scotty finished I told him he could go. He nodded and ran inside. Probably to play with his rocket toys. I started to stain the other half. Once I was done the other half was done drying. I did the second coat and then the next coat for the other half. It was about 3:00 by then, so I headed inside. "Hey dad!" I walked into his office. He shooed me off before I could ask anything. I rolled my eyes and went to watch some baseball. "Hey Abby! How are the pallets going??" My mom sat down next to me taking a break from cooking. "Good they should be done by the time dinner comes along." She nodded. "It's a nice day still why don't you and Scotty do something, maybe you can teach him some baseball." I gave her the dirtiest look to even think like that. She laughed and didn't push the topic any further. The game finished and I got bored of watching some silly drama my mom put on. I got up and went to my room to grab my skateboard. I headed outside and flipped my skateboard so it did a bounce around before I jumped onto it. I was skating around the driveway for a little. Using the poles I made for some tricks when I saw the same boy walking home. He was sweating. I got even more confused.
Where was this boy all day?
I looked away and went back to my board when my mom called for dinner. I finished and went outside to grab my pallets. I had Scotty and my mom help me set it up. When we finished it looked nice with all the baseball things around it. I had a very cliche room, for a boy. I had screwed some milk carriers on too, so I could place my alarm, baseballs, and some family photos on it. The rest of my room was full of photos of The Babe Ruth, my trophies for the sports I had squeezed my way into playing, and a lot of albums. I had my mirror and record player in the corner. I had stole some white christmas lights from my mom's decorations, so I could light my room up a bit more.
(This is what I was thinking of for a pallet bed frame btw.)
