'Don't give up on your dreams. Keep sleeping.'
IN A COMPANY OPENING CEREMONY
"Good morning my colleagues, friends and my beloved dream extinguishers. My name is Rhett Thompson and I gathered you here today to celebrate the launching of my first company..."
HOW IT ALL STARTED...
ONE YEAR BEFORE...I was warming Hannah's bed, my classmate for four years, when, "Check out this three-piece suit. It's colour, it's exquisite design and wow...! IT IS ON DISCOUNT!" Hannah expressed. She was to start her internship in a bank and was looking for official attires.
"It is indeed stylish. You should get it." I commented after glancing quickly at her phone.
"I am buying it. What about you? What type of suits do you like? I want to buy you one." she volunteered.
"Thank you Miss sponsor but I will not be needing suits for my internship... my parents wanted a degree, I gave them one. They should let me do my thing now. If you find any good pajamas on discount... gift me." I said with a wink.
"Pajamas?" She asked.
"Yes pajamas... vary the materials and the patterns kindly. I don't want my colleagues, to see me with only one pair of night wear." I elaborated my preferences.
"Are you trying to prove a point to them? We get that you were forced to take a business course but you did get a first class. You can go places with that grade." she advised.
"Those are useless papers to me now. I have a one year contract in Freffered Hotel as a professional bed tester and an occasional bed warmer. I was accepted yesterday. If it all goes well, I will start my own company." I explained.
She shook her head in disbelief before stating, "I wish you success."
SIX MONTHS LATER...
AT MY COMPANY OPENING CEREMONY"...opening of my first company, Somnum limited with fifteen employees. It deals with testing beddings, bed accessories and room comfortability. I am grateful to my former employers, hotel owners, who have always supported me. I am grateful to Charles Perrault, Anne Rice and Hans Christian Anderson for leaving us two stories. One is the story of a girl who became a princess after identifying a pea in a stack of mattresses. Two is the story of Aurora, a girl who attracted love and wealth in her sleep."
"My kids are not reading fairy tales, if all they encourage is laziness." Someone shouted from the crowd. I assumed her and continued with my speech.
"Sleep encouraged me to venture into a sleeping career and now I have a sleeping company. My testimony is a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of hands to rest, and wealth will come to you as a gold miner and richness as Jeff Bezos. Now help me raise a glass honor to this achievement."
"NONSENSE, GET A REAL JOB!" My male parent, who was ever critical of my well-paying job, shouted from the audience.
