"Let me get this straight," Jess said as we sat on my bed in my dorm room on Thursday night, "You had dinner with his family, and then made plans with him on Saturday to watch a movie."
"Ya," I said slowly, "that about sums up the day." I hadn't been able to see Jess since Monday, so she was forcing me to give her all the details of the photoshoot with Asher and his family. There really wasn't much to tell because it was a fairly normal night, and I wasn't about to tell her about my budding feelings for Asher. It was better to keep that to myself for the time being.
"That sounds awfully like a date. What you guys are doing on Saturday, I mean," she said with a teasing smirk on her lips, "I never thought you would be the one to ask a guy on a date."
"Not a date," I said shoving her into the pillows on my bed, "Wanna see the pictures that I have finished so far?"
"Yes!" she exclaimed sitting up from the pillows I pushed her into while I grabbed my laptop from my desk.
I let a secret smile grow on my face as I pulled up the pictures on my laptop, and the secret smile grew into a genuine one as I looked at the pictures I took of Asher's family. They all looked so happy that it made me happy.
"Oh my god," Jess said, "They are a beautiful family, and you did a great job getting pictures of them. You are so going to do great on the final."
"You haven't even seen the best photos yet," I said, "Let me know which is your favorite. I wanna print a few out as a thank you and Christmas gift for them."
It took several minutes to scroll between some photos because Jess would make comments and suggestions about editing, or she would rave about how cute of a family they were.
"Oh you need to print out several of these to give to them," she said once we got to the photos of them playing in the snow, "How did you get them to look so natural in the pictures? It's like they didn't even know there was a camera around."
"We actually decided we had enough photos, and they started the fight without me telling them to. I kinda just took pictures while they were distracted," I said with a shrug, "I hope Dr. Langrass likes the photos."
"What topic did you use?" Jess asked as she looked away from the laptop and at me.
"I chose to do family," I said back to her, "I didn't have a family that could have times like them, so I felt like this was something that I'm going to value in the future. Asher's family made it really easy, and it felt like everything just fell into place perfectly."
Before she could say anything back, my phone went off, and I picked it up to see Asher's name.
"Speak of the devil and he shall appear, "Jess muttered as I opened the text I got from him.
Asher: Hey, I just got out of my late class, and was gonna get dinner on campus with a friend. Would you like to join us?
"Oh, you should go," Jess said leaning over to read the text.
"How about we go?" I asked her, "He's bringing a friend, so I should be able to bring you. Maybe his friend is hot. You never know."
"I'm sold," Jess said excitedly, "Considering Asher's already pretty hot, I can only assume some of his friends are too. Maybe I'll get lucky."
I only shook my head at her as I looked at my phone to reply.
Holly: I can join if my friend Jess can come too.
Asher: The more the merrier.
"Alright," I said after reading the text, "Grab your coat. We're going to dinner."
