1995
The silence in the training room was so big that a single pin drop could have been heard. There couldn't be so much noise as there was nothing in the room other than a boxing bag and various training items. The weapons stored in the house were locked in a separate room that could be accessed through the training room. But not many people knew how to access them. In the middle of the room was a huge mattress on which two teenagers stood opposite each other. Their faces were serious until a sly smile appeared on the girl's face.
"Let the better twin win," she said softly but clearly, eliciting a smile from the boy.
"You mean me," he replied and attacked without warning.
She fended off his leg, which was aimed at her stomach and grabbed it, dragging his entire body to the ground with his leg. He didn't stay on the ground for long, within a glance, he was back on his two feet, and he saw that his sister had the same smile on her face as before.
"We shall see," she winked.
For minutes, all that could be heard was the sound of the combat. Body slams on the mattress, blocked punches and kicks, painful moans in case one of them had an unsuccessful block. This wasn't unusual in the Sagitta household, as trainings like that were part of the family's daily life. When the two children of the family were young, they trained with their parents, but as they became older, more advanced, they began training on their own. Most of the time, they were found in the training room on the lower floor of their house, training together.
Someone interrupted them, opening the door with a loud bang to attract their attention. "Josephine, Jason," their mother said, walking closer to the mattress, "we have a visitor."
Without saying anything else, the woman nodded towards the door and left the room. That was a sign that the two teenagers were expected to meet their parents in the living room to greet their visitor. The twins didn't say a word, they grabbed a towel and walked out of the training room side by side, drying the sweat from the training. Josephine pulled the hair tie out of her hair, letting the long and dark locks fly freely behind her back, before turning to her brother.
"Presentable?" she asked, twirling, slapping him with the towel in the movement.
Both of them were wearing black joggers and a black sleeveless top. Apart from the fact that a few mops of their hair were stuck to their necks from sweat, they looked perfectly normal.
"Sort of," Jason answered, puckering up his lips.
Entering their living room, they stopped in their tracks. A tall man stood in their house, with long silver hair and beard and eyes so blue that the twins could feel them pierce their souls. Those eyes were hidden behind half-moon spectacles, and he wore a light blue, almost grey, robe. Putting a pointed hat on top of his head, he sent them a friendly smile.
