Curiosity - 3.

Scarlet stood at her wardrobe, picking out a jumper of her own. It was clear to her that Beau was freezing without his, although he tried to convince her that he was fine. Just as she turned around, someone sharply stood in front of her, blocking her path. Scarlet looked up to see that perfect face again, and let out a sigh of relief.

'You scared me Beau,' she chuckled quietly, placing her hand on her thumping heart.

But Beau wasn't laughing. He looked down at the girl who was standing in front of him. She looked so vulnerable, yet so mutinous.

Scarlet gasped as she was pinned against her closed bedroom door by Beau's strong arms. He leant down to her neck, his arms fixed either side of her head.

'How did you get your scars?' he growled into her ear.

'Who were you on the phone to?' she whispered back.

Beau's mind raced. Scarlet was smart, she wasn't a walkthrough, and this was something that Beau found himself getting more attracted to by the second.

The two of them locked on each others gaze. Beau had a tint of defiance in his deep green eyes. He couldn't resist her.

His cold and soft lips crushed onto Scarlet's neck, and she let out a small sigh. He smirked slightly as he bit down on her delicate skin, causing her to gasp. He reached his hands behind her head and pulled her closer, continuing to suck on the fragile skin of her neck. She closed her eyes as she felt the bruise forming. Beau's tongue slipped out to soothe the broken skin before she felt him gently unattaching his lips from her neck. She slowly fluttered open her eyes, mesmerised by what had just happened. She looked around for Beau, but he was gone.

Scarlet gently pushed open the door of the living room. Luke and Jai were still there, sleeping soundly in their seats. Their chests were rising and falling as they softly snored. It had gotten darker and stormier outside.

Scarlet wondered where Beau had gone as she slowly made her way over to her seat, but she was stopped by a tired voice.

'Scarlet?'

She turned around to meet Luke's half opened eyes.

'Go back to sleep,' she whispered.

'Come here...' he slowly replied.

Scarlet wasn't sure whether it was how beautiful he looked as he dreamily lay in the moonlight or how cold it was, but she found herself wandering over and falling down on the sofa beside him. Half asleep, Luke secured his strong arms around her. She rested her head on his chest, his heartbeat pulsing through her. They both drifted off to the sound of the raindrops hitting the window.

Jai opened his eyes, struggling to remember where he was. His vision fixed on the opposite armchair and he frowned as he saw his twin brother and Scarlet lying beside each other. He pulled his phone out of his pocket to check the time. It was one in the morning. Beau was nowhere to be seen.

'Luke...' Jai whispered. He shook his brother, trying to wake him up. Luke let out a groan.

'What?' he snapped, his voice husky. He wasn't a morning person.

'Beau isn't here.' Jai checked the room once more as he began to doubt himself.

Luke sat up quickly, regretting it as soon as he remembered about the sleeping girl beside him. He shook his head. 'He might just be upstairs? Or in our house?'

'He isn't,' Jai whispered as Scarlet began to toss and turn. 'I've tried phoning him. He always picks up, unless...you know.'

Luke nodded. He was surprised by the amount of words leaving his brother's mouth.

'Where's mum?' he asked.

'She's upstairs,' Jai replied. 'But she can't know...'

Luke ran his fingers through his hair and placed his beanie on his head before standing up carefully, trying not to wake Scarlet. They padded their feet across the wooden floor.

Scarlet's eyes slowly opened. She heard the door clicking, causing her head to be immediately turned to where Luke and Jai were standing.

'Luke?' she managed to get out. He spun around almost instantly to the sound of her soft voice. 'We'll be back soon,' he explained.

'Where's Beau?' she sleepily questioned.

'We're not sure...' he lied. 'Don't say anything. We'll be back in a few.'

Before Scarlet could get any words out, Luke had grabbed his mum's car keys and was heading out the door, Jai behind him. Scarlet gently ran her fingertips over the patch on her neck where Beau had left his mark. She knew that whatever was happening with the Brooks brothers, it wasn't good.
