Historia closed the door of her bedroom, returning from a long day in the palace.

She removed her crown, staring intently at it.

She sighed softly and put it down. Days like these really sucked the energy out of her system.

Not that there was ever a day that she was oozing with positive energy.

She changed into her nightgown and opened her window. She slowly climbed out and sat on the roof, staring at the sky.

It's been this way for a while. She never opened her mouth unless she had to because what was there for her to talk about? Her voice wasn't filled with that cheeriness like before, it was now monotone. She rarely ever let out a smile. Or talked about her feelings. No one knew what she was thinking. Except for Ymir.

"Good evening Ymir. Today was another uneventful day, I had to attend a ceremony for this island's birthday. There was an after-party but I decided to not go. Maybe next time though. I'm doing fine here, I hope you are doing the same," Historia smiled, looking up at the stars.

"Oh! Did you know that I found your hair clip? It was on top of the wall I last saw you on...I still have it. If you don't mind, I'd like to wear it!"

She fell silent as the wind began to roar. She let out a sigh but continued to smile up at the dim sky.

"It's getting late, but I'm glad that I was able to talk to you tonight. Take care of yourself up there."

She climbed back into her room and went under her blankets.

This was something she did every night where she would talk to Ymir, even though she did not know if she was listening. She hoped she did. It was the one thing that made her happy at the end of each day. It was a chance for her to still talk about herself to the one person she trusts.

Historia reaches out to the empty space next to her, the space that Ymir used to fill. It hurt her.

She grabbed the letter from the bedside table, the love letter that Ymir wrote for her. She always reads it every night. And every night, tears never failed to roll down her cheek.

Memories came rushing down. Blissful conversations played inside her head. Empty promises never fulfilled. She hugged her pillow, wishing it was Ymir, and sobbed.

"I have never cried this hard when my parents died...so why am I grieving this much over you?"
