Evan was late. He knew he was late. He woke up late. He forgot to reset his alarm. He was absolutely going to be in trouble for being late. And on his first day too.

Damnit.

He sighed and slid into the hallway of Highwool Elementary School. He ran down the tiled floors and slammed right into a slim feminine chest.

"I am guessing you are my new teacher that should have been here an hour ago."

Evan looked up and smiled bashfully at the gray haired woman. "Sorry, I have no excuse. It won't happen again." The principal crosses her arms and stares him down. Finally she sighs and turns on her heels.

"Fine."

He lets out a breath of relief and follows the woman down the hall to his classroom. He was so excited to get his first job after working so hard in college to get this far. He wanted to work high school but he can deal with 4th graders for now.
Until he can get transferred to a high school.

Highwool was a small elementary consisting of literally one class for each grade. From pre k to 5th grade was in the same building. The 4th grade teacher retired last year and he jumped on the chance. The principal who has been working here has been here for decades and she opened the classroom, exposing 13 bright eyed students.

"This is your class. Your break time is during your students lunch period which is at 11 AM.  You have an hour. If you have any questions the office is down the hall. Also don't ever be late again."

Evan swallows and nods and the principal turns on her heel. She marches away and Evan takes a deep breath. He can do this. He has the training. He has the potential. He is amazing. The man squared his shoulders and walked in.

"Hello, class. Sorry, I am late. My name is Mr. Brooks."

The rest of the morning went smoothly. He assigned Charlotte's Web, started to teach them basic algebra, and evan had a small history lesson on Napoleon. It was going well. And the kids were great. Very behaved.

Now it's 11 and he was taking a break. He walked around the school, peaking into classrooms and meeting some of the other teachers.  There was Allison who taught 2nd grade and coached the elementary cheerleading squad. There was Jason who taught 1st grade and was wearing puppy ears for some reason. Aaron, who seemed like the perfect teacher (which annoyed Evan slightly), he taught 5th grade.

They all seemed nice and he thought yet again he was happy to be here. He heard noises coming from a corner classroom. Laughing and screaming, all joyous and he started towards it. Curiousity drawing him in. He went to peak in when a fluffy redheaded man rolled out at his feet.

The man looked down into the prettiest eyes he had ever seen and a face filled with freckles. The man met Evan's face and smiled awkwardly. "Hi!" The man greeted.

"Get him!" A tiny voice shouted and Evan jumped back as multiple little children piled onto the teacher. Well who Evan assumes is the teacher. They all started laughing and the ginger raised his hands. "I give up, I give up. You guys can color for 10 more minutes."

The children cheered and squealed and ran back into the classroom. Gleeful that they won. Evan smiled and shook his head. His mind already deciding this man, whoever he was, was adorable. Evan held out a hand. "Want some help?"

The man took it and Evan helped him up. He cleared his throat and smiled properly at Evan. "You must be the new teacher. I am Ansel."

Ansel, huh. Evan looked him up and down. Ansel was the essence of cute. He wore a seafoam cardigan, a white t shirt, and pink highwaisted jeans with rips in the knees. He also wore a rainbow smock and a pink and seafoam headband. He was the most adorable person Evan had ever met in his life.
