Before i begin i would like to mention that in no way am I shipping Tommy and Tubbo. They are real people and have stated it makes them uncomfortable therefore it is the bare minimum to respect their wishes, any relationship formed in this book is strictly platonic.

It was the night of the beloved and crowd favourite masquerade ball. An event, coordinated by Dream, which was one of the few nights a year the entire server gathered together. Everyone was to wear a unique mask, this in representation of the white mask dream wore around his face everyday. It was a classy occasion, you were to dress in formal attire, buffets and dinners were provided as well as a large area issued for pair-dancing. Tommy desperately didn't want to attend the ball, he so much dreaded the masquerade, mainly because it reminded him of his previous lifetime. Tubbo, Wilbur and Phil managed to convince him in the end, but he clearly stated that he would not enjoy himself at all.

Tommy was lightly stroking his silky ink-black suit, feeling the soft fabric against his fingertips. His nerves were really influencing his actions, mainly because he couldn't sleep. He stood awake in the dead of night, clinging on to his cow plushie for comfort, as he anxiously prepared his outfit for the following night, for the 3rd time.... He obviously wanted to be prepared. The sleep deprivation eventually caught up to him whilst he repolished his leather boots, as he passed out of the couch.

When he woke up and checked the time it was already 3pm. Tommy bolted from the couch, jumping to his feet as he scrambled around trying to multitask the very small amount of things he had left to do, but to him it felt like thousands. He scampered into the kitchen scanning the fridge for anything to eat for lunch, when he saw a note, it read:

"Sorry Tommy, I'm going out to Will's, he needs me to help tailor his suit. I don't know when i'll be back but i ironed your jacket, it's on your bed. If i don't come home i'll meet you at the ball :) Also, please don't be nervous xx -Tubbo"

Tubbo always had to leave these notes for Tommy, otherwise Tommy would grow anxious and look around town for him, he always assumed the worst in every situation. The note reassured Tommy and earned a small smile from him before he turned back to the contents of the fridge. By the time Tommy was dressed and fed it was time for him to set off by horse to make it to the venue in time. He took one last look in the bathroom mirror, adjusting his tie and proceeded to waltz out the door to be met with Phil, Technoblade and Wilbur. They were all straddled on their own horses and adorned in stylish suits and Masks like his own. He greeted his family before leaping onto his own horse and the group set off.

The family soon arrived at the nightmare palace just when the sun began to set. The sky was set to an ablaze with shades of crimson and ruby faded down to a pale marigold. It was a beautiful natural wonder and a lovely moment to share as nearly the whole server stood in amazement and awe at the sight. Well, everyone besides Tubbo...

"Hey Wilbur, after Tubbo left your house, did he tell you where he was going?" Tommy was starting to get alarmed at Tubbo's whereabouts.

"Hmm? Oh yeah! No he never came, I tried to call him but my call just went to voicemail. Did you not see him today?" The calm reply set Tommy off even more. Now he was really worried.

"No... Y'know what why don't you guys go in and have dinner i'm just gonna go back home and check where Tubbo is-" Tommy turned back to his horse setting himself down, about to take off before he was stopped

"Tommy, where do you think you're going?" Phil questioned

"Just gonna go home and check on Tubbo cause he's not here-"

"Yeah, nice try i'm sure he'll turn up and you're not going anywhere" His father pulled him off the horse and escorted him into the venue while Tommy tried to squirm out of his grip.

"Tommy, You are a young adult,  Act like one! If you keep this up I will gladly hand over your discs to dream. Understood?" Tommy's eyes widened at the threat of his discs, he looked up to his dad and slowly nodded and then lowered his head to avert his attention to the floor. 'Im sure Tubbo is fine...' He thought. His head stayed down practically the whole dinner party as he drowned out the obnoxiously loud conversations around him. Still no appearance of Tubbo...

Once dinner was over, everybody moved over to the ballroom where couples began to dance and others were socialising near the buffets. However, Tommy seated himself on a velvet plush couch in the very corner of the considerably large room and stayed there. Every minute that passed he became more and more anxious. After a long and painful 20 more minutes, he sat up from his seat and began to exit the ballroom.

Tommy's POV:

I can't do this anymore, either I am being stood up by my best friend, or he's in danger and needs my help. I honestly couldn't care, throw away my discs dad, go ahead and throw away our whole relationship with it. I need to know where the hell Tubbo is.

"Hey Tommy! So great to see you again buddy" Dream ruffled Tommy's hair giving the boy a big grin. Oh my god, the last person I want to see right now, that guy is so fake! Such a terrible actor on top of that. Keep walking, keep walking. I'm almost at the exit, a step away from freedom when the man in a dashing black suit steps in front of me.

"Now where do you think you're going? Cmon Tommy, I can dance with you if you would like?" Dream plastered another dopey smirk on his face, he knows what he is doing.

"Move" i'm not in the mood to be nice.

"If you wish, but i will be informing your father about this" The tall man stepped to the side allowing me entrance. Before he could change his mind I slid open the door, walked out and closed the golden double doors behind me. And then I ran. Ran as fast as my feet could take me. I felt vulnerable as i didn't have any sort of weapon on me, my height can sometimes intimidate people but i'm not the strongest so i will easily lose a fight if it comes down to it. To change the outcome of getting beaten up, I made a quick stop at techno's house as it was the closest to nightmares palace and he always has the best fighting equipment. I grabbed a netherite sword, quickly sharpened it and was on my way.

After Only an hour of searching I had successfully traveled high and low on all property of L'Manberg, the problem was there was no Tubbo. Oh god, Oh god, stay calm...

Maybe he's somewhere in dreamland? I start to follow my pocket compass that leads me in the general direction of dream land when I stop cold in my tracks. It's very muffled, but I can hear faint screams not a far distance from me. Please don't let it be Tubbo... I start to run turning corners and alleyways until I can see something I wish wasn't happening, my worst nightmare in fact. Right in front of my eyes was my best friend pinned against a wall as a man twice the height and weight of him was beating him senseless. Without a second gaze a run up to them and slash my sword right into the back of the man. He screams out in pain and falls to the ground, where I tower over him and slit his throat. I hold the sword up to his neck, watching the blood and life drain out of him and wanting his death to be long and painful. I raise my sword and swing it to the man's stomach as soon as it breaks contact with his torso his pulse stops and he is declared dead. I don't spare the cruel man another glance and turn to Tubbo who is now curled up against the wall shaking uncontrollably.

"Tubbo, hey buddy you're okay, It's Tommy, i've got you, you're safe with me" I wrap my arms around Tubbo's wounded and skinny frame, pulling him in close. His soft whimpering slowly comes to a halt, as he lifts his head I cup his face in my hands. Now I have a better look, I see his face is as battered and bruised as his body, I gently brush the hair covering his eyes back and place a small kiss on his forehead. He attempts to smile but his quivering lip doesn't allow him to. His strength seems to give in as his head falls onto my chest and he snuggles closer to me, so I take off my suit jacket and wrap it around his small body

"Thank you Tommy" he mutters, so quietly It barely could be heard, but i heard it. I smile widely at him, even though he can't see me.

"Lets get you home buddy"
