It rings around in his head. Jeongguk, Jeongguk, Jeongguk. A pretty name for a pretty boy.
Then, fuck, I really hope I'm not drooling.
Taehyung knows, from the thumping of his heart and the flush he desperately tries to hide as he bows back in greeting and introduces himself, that he is gone. (If he nearly forgot his own name from the constant Jeongguk Jeongguk Jeongguk taking over his entire mind, then that was something no one else needed to know.)
He discreetly wipes the corner of his mouth and internally sighs in relief at the absence of any drool.
"I hope I'm not bothering you." Taehyung watches in fascination as Jeongguk speaks and rubs the back of his increasingly flushed neck, clearly nervous about his bold actions. "I'm sorry for interrupting your...brunch?"
Taehyung's eyes widen once the words register in his dazed mind. "NO! I mean, uh-" He clears his throat. Calm down, he looks like he's about to shit his pants oh my god oh no oh fuck. "-No, you're not interrupting anything. Don't worry about it. It's okay, it's chill. I am chill. The chillest."
To show how chill he is, Taehyung waves a hand dismissively in the air. Which really wasn't his brightest idea because, in the excitement that is Jeongguk, he'd forgotten that he'd ordered tea and could only watch in mounting dread as his flailing hand connects with the little floral mug. He could almost hear its scream of anguish. Or maybe that was his own thoughts screaming in anguish.
Fortunately, his reflexes are fast enough to catch the mug from fully toppling over into a watery grave. Unfortunately, the action allowed some scalding hot tea to escape from its muggy confines and find a new home on his precious hand.
"Oh shit! Ouch," Taehyung hisses as he jerks his hand away, feeling mortification zip through his body like electricity. Clumsy.
But then the sound of barely-contained laughter fills the space around them. With the pain temporarily forgotten, he glances up at Jeongguk from under his lashes, determined to keep the embarrased flush on his face hidden.
He was met with the sight of Jeongguk biting his lip, peals of breathy laughter escaping as if he meant to muffle them, his hands (Taehyung's mind reels at the sight of tattoos, swirling into intricate patterns up his arm like gentle vines on a tree) gently tugging napkins from the holder on the table.
Jeongguk holds the napkins out to him. "Here," he says, eyes twinkling. "Sorry for laughing, but that was kind of really fucking funny. It doesn't hurt too much, right?"
Taehyung gapes at him. Was it possible for someone to be so precious and hot at the same time? This possibly couldn't be legal.
"No- no, it's okay. I'm just clumsy." He breathes out slowly to compose himself and accepts the napkins with a thankful smile. "Thank you, Jeongguk."
