After a long ride, the Hong Kong Shatterdome came into view. Touching down on one of the multiple helipads, the chopper shut down, and its side door opened revealing the Marshal and Raleigh. A woman walked up to the duo, holding one open umbrella, keeping her dry, as well as another closed one, handing it over to Marshal Pentecost, who opened it, holding it above him and Raleigh.
"Mr Becket, this is Mako Mori. One of our brightest. Also in charge of the Mark 3 restoration program. She personally handpicked your copilot candidates."
Mako turned to Marshal Pentecost and spoke to him in Japanese, "I imagined him...different."
"Better or worse?" Raleigh asked, in Japanese.
Mako looked taken aback, but she smiled back at him. The group walked to the elevator.
"We will tour the facility first and then Miss Mori will show you to your Jaeger, Mr Becket."
"Wait for us, please!" a new voice shouted.
"Hold the door, please!" Another spoke, but more high pitched.
Two men ran in, one with glasses and the other with a cane.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you," the man with glasses spoke. "Stay back. Kaiju specimens are extremely rare so look but don't touch, please."
"Mr Becket, this is our research team," Marshal Pentecost spoke. "Dr Gottlieb and Dr Geiszler."
"Oh no, call me Newt," the man with glasses spoke. "Only my mother calls me Doctor."
He then froze realizing how weird that sounded.
"Hermann, these are human beings. Why don't you say hello."
"I have asked you not to refer to me by my first name around others. I am a doctor with over 10 years of decorated experience."
Newt then began to imitate his research partner, "Ten years! I'm very sorry."
"Oh, please."
"Yamarashi?" Raleigh asked, noticing Newt's tattoo on his forearm.
"Oh, this little Kaiju?" Newt spoke, turning his attention back to Raleigh. "Yeah, you got a good eye."
"My brother and I took him down in 2017."
"You know he was one of the biggest Category 3s ever?" Newt spoke, geeking out over the Kaiju. "He was 2500 tons of awesome."
