A Summer to Remember p. 4
Sarah Grace's P. O. V
I could hear Ally yelling all the way up here. That was -not- a good sign. She rarely yells, but when she does, she is so mad, it's not good for either her, or the person the yelling is directed at's health. I could tell Ally was fighting with herself, half of her trying to calm down, the other wanting to pound the poor little girl with her horse to a pulp. It is a war zone down there. I walk down to them take Dr. Pepper's lead from Ally and the other girl, who are fighting over it. They don't even notice. I start to walk away. No noticing. Wow. Those two are so absorbed in there argument that they don't notice a 600-pound horse walking away. I go up to the barn, put him on cross-ties, and go get his bridle, western tack, and grooming kit. Ally's going on a trail ride to help her simmer down. Always helps all three of us. I tack him up, then change my mind and take the saddle off. She's going on her own little ride across the field. I actually got the bit in his mouth!! Usually Ally and Jennifer are the only ones who can get the bridle on him. He gives me his I'm-a-cheeky-little-devil-look and walks over to Hollywoods stall. He also didn't have cross ties on. They're buddies. Hollywood sticks his noes out of the hole in the stall, and neighs to Dr. Pepper as if to say, "Get your lazy butt over here faster!" Sammy neighs from over on the regular cross-ties, where Natalie, the angel she is, brought Sammy up for me. Sammy must have been feeling a little jealous. I finished with Dr. Pepper, and started walking down to where Ally and the other girl were looking confused.
Jess's P-O-V
Seriously? I just did what Ms. Jennifer told me to do, and she told me to get Dr. Pepper. Then this angry person, who claims to be Dr. Pepper's owner, storms over and exclaim that Dr. Pepper is not supposed to be ridden this week. When I asked her why, she replied "Because I'm Pepper's owner, and we're going to a camp, so I want him full of energy. Plus, /I/ was going to work him today. And now I won't get to, and it's all your fault." How is it my fault? I wondered I guess more aloud than in my head.
Ally's p.o.v
"It's your fault because I was going to practice my line jumps, and now he has been deprived of energy, and so both of us are deprived of jumping..." at that point, my adrenaline was just gone. I didn't see how exactly it was this persons fault. Plus, we could still jump. He probably didn't even burn much energy.
"Oh my gosh," I say, "Have I been yelling at you?" the girl nodded.
"A little bit," she said. I had a look of horror on my face. She looked puzzled at this.
"I never yell," I start, "I must be really stressed, I never yell. I'm really sorry."
"it's ok," she says. "I'm Jess by the way." she sticks a hand out to shake mine.
I'm Ally Lynn, but people just call me ally. And it's then we realize that neither of us have Dr. Pepper! Then i saw Sarah Grace leading him down, with smirking at us.
"I had tack on him but I wasn't sure if you wanted to clean the saddle for camp, so I untacked him." she said.
"thanks" I drawled sarcastically. I took him from her, and walked up to the barn, scowling at Jennifer as I passed her. I wasn't about to go easy on her. I was deep in thought about camp and making sure we didn't forget anything, when I bumped into someone.
"Sorry!" I say. Backing away. I knew perfectly well that Dr. Pepper could step on people when his leader was bumped into. For a week after I had a sore foot.
"Sorry. I should have been watching where I was going." said a male voice. I would know that voice anywhere.
"Oh my gosh! Hey Ally!" He chuckles then asks, "Do you take lessons here?"
I snicker. "I guess you could say that." He gives me a puzzled look. I've been getting lots of those today.
"Do you ride this one?" he asks. At that, I just can't help myself. I burst into laughter. I get yet another puzzled look at that.
"Not exactly. Sometimes it feels like I'm just along for the ride and should be very honored that he let's me stay on his back and off the ground. He's mine, so he likes to joke like that. We share the best bond ever between a girl and her horse." I smile fondly at my horse. He reaches out towards me with his noes. I take his noes in my hand, and kiss it. He pushes me towards his back, and I laugh, earning yet again another puzzled look. "He wants to go trail riding. We usually do it bareback." I say. He whinnies to let me know he either wants to ride or go back to his paddock. Then he somehow gives me an idea.
"Hey we're going trail riding. You wanna come with?" I ask. Then I smirk. I know who he should ride.
"Sure, but who do I ride?" he asks
"Take your pick: Fudge or my moms horse, Pepsi. Pepsi is such a sweetie." I say. Dr. Pepper snorts as if to say "She is /so/ not sweeter than me. I'm an angel from above." "Must be one of those naughty little angels, you are /so/ not a complete angel. " I say rubbing Dr. Peppers noes.
"Umm.. How big is Pepsi? Cause I don't really want a big horse. "16 1/2 h.h." I say. She is in this stall right..." I lead him to a stall.
"whoa, that's a big horse." he says startled
I consider this. "Not really. Only like 2 hands higher than Pepper over here. Do you want to ride her?"
"Sure" he replies.
Like it? I hope you do. :) vote comment and become a fan if you want! Thanks! And I just want to say that this is dedicated to my actual Real-life horse, Dr. Pepper.
