"Do you ever wonder if you just didn't fit in society?"
The petite young lady leaned against the wall with her arms crossed. She looked wistfully at the horizon. Her co-worker rolled his eyes and lunged the lemonade container away.
The restaurant was closed but the whole crew were bustling around to get the job done before opening.
The brown eyed and brunette haired young lady snapped out of her thoughts and followed her coworkers. No one took interest in her questions and she felt left out of most group things the crew would do outside of work. She didn't mind it that much. She's been an outsider for most of her life so she was okay with it.
"We need the dishes washed!"
The girl looked up and answered, "I'll be there!"
An older lady came rushing past them and mentioned, "Keep your daydreams out of my kitchen, Julia."
"Yes, ma'am," Julia responded with a quiet voice. Julia kept her thoughts to herself and walked around the restaurant getting supplies ready for the day.

The sun glowed as it began to set. The young lady had her backpack close to her as she walked quickly in a neighborhood that was known to mug people. Since it was still bright outside, she was safe. However, she acknowledged she needed a car. She kept herself alert and when she made it to the other side of town, she had a sigh of relief.
"Close one," she whispered and walked at a normal pace to her father's home. She passed some stores she had been wanting to visit but never had the free time to visit. Her phone kept buzzing off. Every time it buzzed she jumped a couple inches from the ground. Julia was never going to get used to the sound. She could not help thinking that there was someone watching her. However, whenever she turned to look behind, there would not be anyone in sight. Finally, she arrived home.

"Are you serious?!" The dark brown haired young being stood in shock when they delivered the news to him. He wasn't prepared for the news at all.
"This is your only chance to promote to the next rank in the League."
He crossed his arms and stood silently for a minute and then asked, "How do I know this is not another trick the Old Man is trying to do on me?"
The messenger rolled his eyes and sighed, "The Council has decided that it's your time to grow up, Cyrus. You can't stay like this-this wild party kid. You have big responsibilities in the future."
He groaned and flopped on his bed. So much on the line because he is the so-called 'Chosen One' for the future of their government and world.
"Why can't my sister take over the responsibilities? She is more mature than me."
The messenger drew a large breath and calmly replied to his frequently asked question, "Your sister cannot do these activities until you relinquish your wings."
Cyrus stood up reluctantly, "Fine, I'll do it. Where am I going?"
The messenger handed him over his assignment details, "It's all here but if you want the quick summary: Southern California in the United States of America on planet Earth."
"They trust me to go to the USA?! Did they lose their minds?!"
The messenger looked at him blankly, "That's for you to find out, Cyrus."

"Mija, how was your day?"
Julia's father asked when he opened the door for her. She smiled at him and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"It was good, Papi!"
She went to the kitchen to cook their meals. It was much more quiet now. All her older siblings had moved out and had families of their own. She was the last one at home. It was her and her dad. Her mom went on a trip and she never came back. They searched for her but they officially needed to say that she was presumed dead. It made her father feel very depressed so Julia decided to not leave him for now.
"Julia, I talked to your Tia Maria. She'll be staying with you while I go on my work trip."
Julia clenched her jaw and with much control as she placed her pan on the stove. She turned to her father and put on her fakest smile.
"Sounds great, Papi!"
She brushed the idea out of her mind and began thinking of the now. Maybe she'll be different this time. However, she did not hold onto that hope for long.
"Mija, I'll be in my study. Call me when you are finished."
Julia nodded. She took a moment and paused to look out the kitchen window. She loved and hated her life. All she knew was home. Her parents never let go to public school because of the dangers of bullying, secularism, and etc. However, little did they know that the danger was at home. Julia tried not to think about it.
"How am I going to live with that-that toxic person for several weeks?"
She did not know what to do but she hoped that God would give the strength to push through.

Several hundred thousand light years away, Cyrus was preparing himself for his mission. On his assignment, they informed him that he needed to find this human who needed help growing and changing. It could be a girl or boy. However, that person needed to have this certain mark on their hand that only he could see. Once he's able to see it, he would reveal himself to the person and they will start their journey.
"I pray in god's name that I get paired up with a human straight male or a lesbian human female. I don't want to make things complicated..."
He recalled the story in their history of one of their own kind who had gone to Earth and got paired up with the opposite gender. However, these two fell in love, and that being never came back to their world. The story did not end there. The Council had taken upon themselves to punish the Fallen. So, they kidnapped them, and that being never got to see their family on Earth ever again. The Council then established that anyone who jeopardizes the mission by breaking the professional relationship between Fideles and humans will be banished for eternity. Cyrus wasn't about to make that same mistake with whoever he was paired with. Since he was a handsome young Fideles in their world, many of the other young Fideles were trying to flirt with him. He just shrugged it off, and he was glad he was leaving.
"Let's hope," Cyrus looked at his assignment again and read, "'Southern California, USA' is less superficial than here."
