~Cammie~
"I am so sorry"I say to Nate as I help him up. He rubs his neck and grins sheepishly. "It's-" he starts to say but my bus driver shushes him. "Hey pretty boy," he yells," find a seat. " He smiles at me again and walks to the back of the bus. The rest of the bus ride goes by as quick as a flash, and about halfway in I notice Nate muttering in the back of the bus and closing his eyes tightly. I wonder what was wrong as the bus pulls up to my stop. When I step off the bus and head towards home, I can't stop thinking about Nate. I rolled his name around in my mouth, like a grape, around and around. His bright blue eyes that held so much. Mysteries, pain, and memories. As I turn onto my block, I suddenly feel a sharp throb in my head. It gets worse and worse until I don't think I can stand it anymore. It feels like someone is stabbing my brain, and I scream and sink to my knees. Colors flash in front of my eyes, and black creeps into my vision. As I start to black out, I feel strong arms lifting me up, and after that, darkness.
FLASHBACK
The boy with the beautiful eyes. I have seen him before, and he seems like the most familiar thing in the world. We laugh and run to a duck pond, and splash each other with the cool water. The splashing turns into pushing, and the murky water soaks us with mud and wetness. I flop down on the grass and the boy follows suit, the sun warms us, and the boy props himself up on his elbow as the grass scratches our skin. "Can I tell you a secret?" he asks nervously, pushing his hair out of his eyes. "Anything" I say, feeling a rush of exhilaration.
"I'm-im in uh, love with you?" he says uncertainly.
I smile and blush.
"Is it a question or a fact?" I tease, nudging him playfully.
He looks me in the eye seriously.
"Fact" he says, intensity burning in his eyes.
I look down, like I might find words to say etched in the grass, but they aren't. And words come to me anyway.
"Me too"
