Old Friends Chapter 2.
After multiple hours of flipping through Christmas specials on the telly, making food in the kitchen for breakfast, ordering Nandos for Lunch, walking Boo around the neighborhood, and writing more in my journal it was time to head into work. 5:26 pm I sighed and went to my closet getting out my uniform and getting dressed. Soon enough, I had slipped on my coat, beanie, and boots and was grabbing my keys walking out the door.
"See you in the morning Boo." I called to my sad pup, closing the door behind me.
Three flights of stairs later, someone please tell me why I decided to live on the third floor, I was in the parking lot and stepped into my car, starting it up. I was greeted thankfully by a gust of warm air welcoming me by the heater. I set into drive and headed down the street to the pub.
Arriving a bit early, I settled into the parking lot and sighed. Wonder what will await me tonight. I thought to myself. For starters, plenty of lonely, drunk men in here spiking there egg nog with whiskey, rum, beer, you name it. As long as its hard, they'll drink it. Meaning many wasted men, and prolly some boys in here too, grabbing on my arse hooting and hollering. What can I expect? I work in a pub. This happens evey night and I was lucky to get the job. After mum passed, I was fired from my old job making life a bit harder. Saw an opening and I took it. Light at the end of the tunnel aye? With my luck, it couldv'e been a train. I looked up at the clock, 5:45 Better clock in. I got out of my warm car, shutting it off and sliding the keys into my coat pocket.
Heading inside, I took off my coat and hung it up. "Oi! Charlie! Benny! You in?!" I called to some fellow co-workers of mine.
"A-LYNN? THAT YOU?" A husky old voice belonging to Charlie called out from the kitchen. "YOU'RE WORKING TONIGHT?"
I sighed. "Ya Charlie. I'm working tonight." I grabbed my apron and notepad, sliding a pen behind my ear.
"Oi! Did I hear A-Lynn in here?" Asked a younger, husky voice, filled with tiredness. That'd be Benny.
Don't ask me why they call me A-Lynn. I reckon they find it easier than to always says Aubrey Lynn. So they shortened it to A-Lynn. "Yes Benny. You heard me. It's A-Lynn, working on Christmas Eve." I turned around to hug Benny before walking to the kitchen and hugging Charlie as well.
"How many drunks and perverts you reckon we'll get boys?" I chuckled slightly, unamused and walked out of the kitchen and over to our window, flipping the switch turning on the 'OPEN' sign. I huffed and took my place behind the counter. It was only six so we wouldn't have a rush, or customers rather, untill about ten. I turned on the pub telly and flicked on a news station. ANYTHING other than christmas specials!
------
"Welcome to Jimmy's! What can I get you to drink?" I put on a fake smile and asked politely to the obviously hammered man staggering in front of me.
"Get... me ....something hard!" He managed to get out.
I rolled my eyes and sighed mumbling to myself, "Maybe you should take your dick out of mouth first!" I said just under my breath. Guess he heard me.
"Watch your mouth miss!" He spat.
I rolled my eyes, handing him his drink, wiping drunken saliva off my face and walking away. Walking past tables, I got the usual treatment. Arse grabs, slaps, hoots, hollers. Hey it's Christmas Eve. I'll cut them some slack, plus they're drunk.
I was taking an order, with my back to the door when I heard the bell. "One minute!" I called over my shoulder. I heard drunken giggles and kissing. We got a couple on Christmas Eve! And they don't sound to hammered. That's nice. I walked over to the podium. We never use it so why do we have it? Wait, I'm using it now.... ANYWAY! I walked over, genuinely a bit happy. That all flooded away when I saw who it was.
--Louis' Perspective
I walked into Jimmy's Pub with Eleanor. We had come back from a Birthday/Christmas party. We may have had a few drinks. Anyway, we stumbled in and the waitress was busy. I started whispering to El who began giggling quietly. In light of the moment, we started kissing. Happy Birthday to me!
"One Minute!" We heard the waitress call. We didn't care. She could take a million years, I was just happy here with my girl.
I heard someone clear their throat and I broke the kiss to look up, a smile plastered on my face. Guess it wasn't plastered hard enough, because when I saw who was standing before me. Everything changed.
---Aubrey's Perspective
"Aubrey?" The brown-haired, blue-green eyed man asked more to himself than to me
"Louis." I said unexpectedly. Yes you heard me right. Louis. As in Louis William Tomlinson, yanno from One Direction. Caught up now? And yes he was with his girlfriend. At least I would assume they were dating from the snog fest they just had. Happy Birthday Lou!
"Aubrey. I... I can't believe it." He said still as if he would rather be somewhere else rather than here.
"The feeling is mutual." I grabbed my pen and notepad and looked at his girlfriend, still feeling his eyes on me. "Welcome to Jimmy's Pub. My name is Aubrey, I'll be your waitress and I can take you to your seats." I said as unemotional as a cactus in the winter. Yes I reckon it was that bad. The brunnette just looked me up and down and rolled her eyes. Oh two can play that game dollface! I led them to their table and took their order. I took the brunette's first. "Okay... I didn't get your name."
"Eleanor." She replied with a hiss.
Then she said something that seemed to paused time. Even in her bitchy tone, it rang out. "How do you know Louis again?"
I froze. I froze completely and glanced at Louis, whose ,now, blue orbs burrowed into me.
"We're old friends." We chorused, bringing up memories neither of us wanted to remembered.
