"I agree Sir, but fate needs to be worked too. I will not take any chances with regards to your life Mr. President." I tried contacting my teammates again. In midst of the convoy, we received a message coming from the intelligence department that the mission was compromised.

In the midst of the convoy, we received a message coming from the intelligence department that the mission was compromised. Only the Alpha Team and the President knew the route. Someone betrayed the team. I, together with three other Alpha team members are the only ones remaining beside the President. The Team was split off. I was given an instruction by Capt. Kim to proceed with the escort. The others will provide support. We need to arrive at the next stopover, another team will be waiting for us.

I immediately bandaged my bleeding wound. My vision starts to fail.

I breathlessly crawl towards the upturned car. Bullets are raining on us.

"Ava!" I looked to my side, 3 meters from me hiding behind a black van, JK is firing bullets towards the rebel group.

At the count of three I ran towards him. "-okay sir! I will cover Ava". I watched him communicate with our leader.

"50 people" He breathes. "We are surrounded." I looked at him. My heart is sinking.

"RM wants you to bring 3 of our teammates together with the President. Go North and go to the Tanlad Camp, General Reyes is waiting for you there. I will cover you." My throat hurts. I want to want to tell him that I don't want to leave without the team. Without him.

But I nod my head, this is not the time to hesitate. Time is running out.

A grenade was detonated near our hiding spot. I heard a shout.

"Shit!" J-Hope

"Suga has been shot! We need to get out of here-" I looked up at his pale face, no doubt terrified for his boyfriend's life. He signaled JK and us.

"Babe" I looked at the love of my life. "Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, and I will cover you. Bring Villagas, Perez, and Arsua with you." I stared at him for a second. And he looked deeply in my eyes, silently promising each other to meet again.

"I love you." He whispered.

"I love you too," I replied before I run towards the awaiting three together with a shaken president. I lead the road ahead. Leaving the rest of my team behind.

"40 km is Tanlad Camp. We will take the shortcut. Mr. President follow me. Perez walks behind me."

"Villagas, Arsua," I called. "You will walk with the President."

At the 12-hour mark, I noticed that Perez is starting to lag behind. I observed his wandering eyes. Like he is waiting for something. I look at him in my peripheral vision. He is playing with his knife, carving a line on the skins of the trees.
