I'm almost positive I wrote this before Nikki started dating Artem.

Also! I skipped one of the one-shots in "Afterglow" because it wasn't really a one-shot, it was an excerpt of my book "Defying Gravity", which I hadn't published at the time, but now I have! Go check it out if you also love CM Punk!

Anyway, here's this one-shot!

"You've got to be kidding me..."

Brie looked over at her sister, who had a frown on her face and she looked down the red carpet at something -- or someone.

Once she realized who Nikki was looking at, Brie frowned.

"Oh, Nikki - "

"No, it's okay," Nikki interrupted. "I won't do anything stupid; I'm a professional. Let's just get through this and get inside, and maybe we won't bump into him."

So they did.

The twins stopped and posed for pictures several times, but Nikki's gaze kept landing on John Cena, who was not near her and probably didn't even realize she was there.

Finally, they made it inside the venue for the Teen Choice Awards, and they found their seats.

As the night went on, Nikki never found herself without a drink in her hand. Brie had stopped drinking after one glass, especially when she realized her sister wasn't going to slow down anytime soon.

Now, they were in a car on the way back to their hotel. Nikki had somehow managed to bring a glass along for the ride, and she had almost spilled the drink on herself several times.

"Nicole..." She said, sternly.

Nikki looked at her, and pouted when she saw the face she was being given. It was the one Brie used when Birdie was doing something she shouldn't.

"What?" She asked.

"Are you okay?"

"Of course," Nikki replied. "What makes you think I'm not okay?"

"If you drink one more glass, you're probably going to die of alcohol poisoning," Brie pointed out. Nikki frowned, looking down at her glass. "Do you want to talk about it?"

She didn't say anything at first. The two of them sat in silence for a few minutes.

Brie knew her sister, and she knew that she was upset. Nikki was extreme when it came to her emotions; whatever she was feeling, she went all in on that feeling. She could be extremely happy, or absolutely furious. She would get an adrenaline rush after being in the ring, and she'd have to run around a bit backstage to calm herself down.

Just when Brie thought she wasn't going to say anything, she finally spoke up.

"It's just..." She paused. Brie didn't know if she was holding something back, or maybe trying to choose her words carefully. "Why didn't he love me?"

"Nicole - "

"I know that's what every girl says when she goes through a break-up," Nikki interrupted. "But... I mean, god, we were together for what? 6 years? And he didn't love me enough to marry me?"

Brie didn't know how to respond to that, and Nikki honestly didn't know what she wanted her to say.

"I made so many sacrifices, you know?"

She didn't know if it was the alcohol talking, or the fact that she finally wasn't being followed around by Total Bellas cameras, but Nikki just wanted to get some things off her chest.

"He didn't want kids, so I was like, 'oh hey, that's fine, maybe I can live without having any'," She went on. "I'll always have Birdie, and I love being Aunt Coco."

"Birdie loves her Auntie Coco," Brie agreed, smiling at the mention of her daughter.

"And then he didn't want to get married," Nikki said. "And when he finally proposed, he made it seem like he only did it for me, like he still didn't really want to marry me. I was constantly making all these sacrifices, and he would just go off and make movies for a couple of months, and just not make any sacrifices at all."

"Nicole." This time, Brie wasn't interrupted. Nikki simply looked over at her. "John didn't deserve you. There is a guy out there who will make you feel like the only woman in the world, and he will gladly start a family and marry you. He will make sacrifices, he will love you unconditionally, and most importantly, he will make you happy."

At first, she thought she was going to cry. Then, she got this sudden surge of confidence, and this time, she knew it was definitely the alcohol talking.

"You're right," Nikki agreed. "I'm a badass bitch. Any guy would be lucky to date me. I'm a good person, and I deserve someone who will make compromises and sacrifices. I deserve someone who will love me."

"Exactly."

Nikki rolled down her window, and before Brie could ask what she was doing, she stuck her head out and yelled, "Fuck you, John Cena!"

Brie was so surprised that she couldn't help but laugh.

Then, she rolled her own window down, and copying her sister, yelled,

"Fuck you, John Cena!"
