Went the clock.
He waited…

The wail broke through the abyss.
It resounded off the hollow walls.
And then silence.
Darkness.
A light was shining somewhere.
He reached for it.
But it was too far out of his grasp.
His hand fell mid-reach.
“Don’t do this to me. Don’t go. Please don’t leave me!”
He knew that voice.
It was so familiar…but why could he not remember?
He felt a tug on his heart.
Wait…no…was that his leg?
Oh, his hand, someone was squeezing his hand.
He felt their desperation, but what could he do to help?
He was drowning in the gloomy black fire.
No escape.
But there was that light again.
And that voice, “Louis?”
An Angel, he was being saved by an Angel.
It felt light as air, this salvation.
The voice was ethereal.
The scent ambrosia in the sour pit of darkness.
He wanted out.
He wanted to reach that light.
But each time he closed in on the brightness, another tunnel of darkness would surround.
He felt so alone.
Why was no one helping?

He just wanted help.
And then there was that tugging again.
Where was it coming from?
It squeezed and squeezed and squeezed and then the light got brighter and brighter and brighter and OH…
His eyes opened.
An Angel was above him…was he dreaming?
“Louis! Oh, Louis,” the Angel spoke and wept and his eyes shone.
Ahhh, that was the light.
His eyes.
They were the brightness he sought.
“Harry….” He finally uttered, soaking up the warmth, stealing it, coveting it.
“You’re alive,” Harry breathed, the hospital room disappearing as Louis focused on his savior, his guardian, his Angel.
