Freshman year. Lakeside High. Rivalries with Riverview High, which just happens to be where Lukah goes.
Lukah and I go way back...and by that I mean middle school. Art class to be exact. Neither of us really liked art but it got us out of PE so it was okay I guess. He was a grade ahead of me though, so when he started talking to me over the other people in our class, I thought he was so cool.
Anyways, the homecoming game was the first time I've seen him in two years so I was a wreck. I didn't even talk to him...or anyone for that matter.
The game was awkward for anyone around us, as everyone at both schools knew what went down between us. Everyone pitied me, but no one knew how I really felt. no one knew all the sports and activities I was involved in were to distract me from him.
*************************************** 3 weeks after the homecoming game (Halloween)
I opened my locker today to discover a letter to fall out. I looked around but no one else seems to have one. I figured it would be some kind of sport thing but it wasn't.
The note was a black card decorated in fake blood to appear spooky, as it was Halloween. I wasn't really planning on doing anything but going to the soccer field for practice this year. I opened the note and it read:
Stonehill High. 8:00pm. Find extra info on arrival. Be there or be dead.
Wow okay then. These people must be really into Halloween stuff.
Who knows, this might be fun? I mean it's not like my parents would care...and plus, anything to help get my mind off of Lukah can't be bad, right?
