Song Fic. Based on My Jolly Sailor Bold. Obviously, I don't own the song or vid, but I will point out that I flipped around some lyrics and watered some down and such (pun intended). There are several variations of the song anyway. I figured that if there were fish in space in the Golden Age, there should be other star creatures too. Pitch x Mermaid Reader?
The first time you saw him, you were gliding freely across the Sea of Stars with nothing but possibility in your way. Your body floated weightlessly, as for nothing could take you down, while the locks upon your head stirred slowly and gently past your eyes. Schools of bright star fish danced over and circled you in a ticklish rush of glistening scales against the distant moonlight until they fled your figure in search of another source of entertainment and perhaps a snack. The captivating visuals of the Golden Age flooded your eyes and rewarded your sight with the dark surrounding sea lit up by constellations. It was still difficult to believe the war in Orion had begun.
The ship had approached you at a gradual speed from out in the distance. You were already turning your head and swirling around to face the other direction where it was arriving from before the sight of it reached full clarity. The scent of what stood aboard had already crossed your senses, making your stomach warm as you closed your eyes to take it in with a smile of delight. Your hunger had then begun to strike at this fine afternoon.
Man.
The other starmaids like you were beginning to gather nearby where you treaded, their attention also locking onto the oncoming galleon. Hisses of anxiousness arose in whispers from deceiving beauty. They swam into a formation in preparation of what they'd hoped would soon be a feast, grouping in one general area where the ship would sail toward yet still distancing out from one another in order to potentially create a tighter corner if by any chance the ship would attempt to turn away in avoidance of your existences. Soon everywhere you looked as you scanned your surroundings positioned at least one of your kin several yards away, bright orbs as the far-off stars also gazing at the approaching galleon. A variety of scales shining in bright blues, lavenders, magentas, silvers, and golds below curved waists and upon perked breasts sparkled to capture the eyes of the arriving sailors. Pink tongues licked pearly teeth at the rising scent of copper and aura of hot blood. Most other beings of the Golden Age saw your species as enemies to them, judged you as selfish and hungry for only taking others' lives. But your folk tended to remain neutral on who was living beyond the stars rather than viewing friend or foe, taking only what you needed to live.
It only took moments of patience before the ship sailed close enough before your eyes for you and the rest of the maids to swim up to its edge. Some maids circled the bottom of the structure while others were daring enough to hoist themselves waist-high on the rail by the deck where a few crewmates stood and were shifting their attention to, their melodies breaking out to lure the men closer to them. A number of them noticeably wore plugs within their ears to drown out the songs as a few others had to hold on to those who could still hear the beautiful creatures harmonizing their spell, keeping the crewmates from tending to the mysterious woman-like beings. While the rest on and around the galleon were occupied, this gave you the opportunity to travel towards the front of the ship where a lone figure stood tall and strong while gazing into the distance - a perfect course to sink your teeth into. You pulled yourself to rest your elbows on the front rail of the bow to get a good look at the captain.
He at first paid no attention to you. He had his arms crossed over his chest as he looked in concentration toward the direction of his intended destination. A rare sight of emerald irises glistened in the light of the distant constellations. Dark brunette locks remained kept from the heart-shaped face with the lack of a wind current and to give him a clarified view of where he was headed. The gold band resting on his left ring finger was prominent but did not tempt you. The uniform of the famed Lord High General of the Galaxies hung just as neatly and still as his stature.
