The next day, the girls, after a long morning with plenty of complaining, set off around noon. Because they were looking for a man who's name they couldn't even speak, it made looking for him rather hard. Luckily, Michael had told them that he had three houses, all within two hours of Jackie's cabin.
Still slightly hungover, Caroline was rather grumpy. As they drove down the road, Jackie rambled on about something, not realizing that her audience wasn't paying attention.
"Can you just shut up?" Caroline snapped.
Jackie stopped, staring at the driver. "Fine, but don't expect me to be happy about it."
Caroline growled. "If you don't shut up, I'm kicking you out of the car."
"Fine," Jackie said, pouting slightly.
The girls sat in silence for fifteen minutes. Jackie fidgeted in her seat, her bouncing knee, shaking the car.
"Are we there yet?" She asked. Caroline stayed silent. "Carrie," Jackie pushed, forcing the air out of the driver's lunges. "Are we there yet?"
After a moment of struggle, she breathed. "Get out," Caroline whispered.
"What?"
"Get. Out."
"Um, Caroline, we're going 80 miles an hour down a highway in the middle of nowhere," Jackie said, confused.
"So?"
Jackie laughed. "You've got to be kidding me."
"I promise you, I'm not. Get out."
Jackie laughed again, shaking her head. "This is ridiculous," she muttered.
"Did I stutter?" Caroline hissed.
Jackie turned back to face her. "I am not getting out of the car while we're speeding down a highway. I don't care how grumpy you are."
"I'm not grumpy," Caroline argued.
"Liar," she retorted.
Caroline slammed on the breaks, throwing them both forward. "I don't know what your problem is, but I'm not-"
Jackie threw her head back laughing. "I have a problem? You've had a stick up your butt since we woke up."
"I have not!"
"Have, too!"
"No, I haven't! You're the one who called me 'Carrie.' You're clearly the one with the problem!"
"Oh, so you can call me stupid but I can't call you Carrie? And how does that make me the one with a stick up my ass?!"
"If you don't remember anything from your past then how do you know to call me Carrie?!"
Jackie threw her body around to face Caroline. "I don't even know what that means! We've never met before yesterday!"
"You could have at least asked me if you could call me that!"
"Carrie is a nickname most people use for people with your name!"
"Well, I'm clearly not everyone, Jacks!"
Jackie froze. "What did you just call me?"
Caroline gulped. "I- nothing. I-I didn't call you anything." Their eyes met.
"Girls, girls, you're both petty," a third voice spoke. The girls screamed, whipping around. "Dad, you two. You're acting like little kids."
"Michael, what are you doing here?"
