Bokuto was on the verge of crying while holding Y/N's hand. He hadn't cried or went emo-mode for many years, but at this moment it was too much for him to handle.
"Why... Why are you leaving me? We were supposed to grow gray and old together.." He mumbled out between his sobs.
He looked at your body, that was connected to life support and all the other medical stuff that was connected to you. He hated this scenery.
Just a year ago you, your son and Bokuto had walked together on that beautiful flower field together with no problems in sight. Today was different. It would be your last day together, since the doctors had decided that you wouldn't wake up anymore and that it would be better to end your suffering.
Of course Bokuto understood that you wouldn't wake up, but it hurt, it really hurt. Akaashi came to the hospital to look after your son Haru, so Koutaro could say goodbye to you alone and cry out, without concerning your son too much. He wasn't even sure if he could let his son in the room, if he was going to stay in this pitiful state.
Y/N had always been Koutaros sunlight and the love of his life. It really was love at first sight. They had dated through highschool and college. After college they got married and soon after that Y/N gave birth to their son, Haru.
Haru was a blessing for them. He was bright, curious and really smart for his age. Tho he got his temper tantrums from his dad. Y/N and Haru would always come and watch the matches Bokuto played in and he could swear his heart melted when Haru would support his father, by wearing a shirt with his number on and scream his name.
Bokuto could remember the family activities they had when he was free from work. They would go on picnics and on day trips to new fun places. However those fun days would never come again.
Everything had started with Y/Ns constant the coughing. It didn't stop and got worse and worse. After a short time Y/N started coughing blood, and from there on the situation went downhill, and really fast.
The doctors said that she maybe had some months left and that Y/Ns condition would only worsen. There was no cure and it pissed Bokuto off. The only thing he could do, was to watch his beautiful Y/N slowly die in front of his eyes. Haru was only 3 so he didn't really understand how bad the situation was, nor did Koutaro or Y/N tell him. They had told that there wasn't a cure and that mommy was really ill, but nothing more.
There was a knock on the door and Bokuto quickly wiped his tears away. In the room walked Haru and Akaashi. Haru quickly ran towards his dad to be picked up and held by. Bokuto picked the young boy up and held him tight while looking at Akashi with a thankful expression. Akaashi nodded and had a sad look on his face. He and Y/N had been close since Akaashi had usually handled Bokuto's Emo-modes in highschool and well he was a dear friend to Bokuto, so Y/N got to know him by the years.
He then turned around and left, to give the father and son some alone time. Bokuto took a deep breath and looked his son straight into his owl-like eyes with e/c orbs, before speaking with a shaky voice words he hoped he never would have needed to speak.
"Haru.. You know that mommy is ill right?" Bokuto started and looked at his son with a sad expression.
"Yeah, you told mommy was very ill" Haru said and analyzed his fathers face. Haru was a young child, but he could understand that something wasn't right and he started to look a little unsure and sad.
"Haru, mommy is going to heaven today.. You know above the clouds, right?... but mommy will always watch over you, do you understand?"
Harus eyes started to water up and he looked genuinely sad and shaken.
Bokuto himself was on the verge of crying and it didn't help that his son was in an even worse state than him. Bokuto couldn't do anything else than hold Haru and comfort him.
"why does mommy leave us, I don't want mommy to leave" He sobbed out, and it made Bokuto cry. "Daddy doesn't want mommy to leave either, but she must" He tried to explain in a way Haru would understand, but how could Bokuto tell this young child that he was going to grow up without his mother?
Bokuto let Haru talk to his Mother while waiting for the doctors. Harus words were heartbreaking to be spoken by a 3 year old and Bokuto tried his best to hold back his tears. He hoped Y/N could hear what their sons goodbye and all the kind words he said.
When a nurse came in the room and said it was time to let her go, tears started running down Bokuto's cheeks. He held tight to his son while they watched Y/Ns heartbeat slow down and fade away on the monitor. Soon the doctor told she had passed away and the nurse laid a white sheet over her lifeless body.
Bokuto felt empty. His other half had left him all alone with their precious son. He was left broken hearted and his son was still crying. He felt like he wanted to sink under the ground and just die with Y/N but he knew he needed to carry on, for Harus sake. Haru had just lost his mother and an important person in his life. Bokuto took a deep and cleared his throat.
"Let's go home buddy" he said and gave a weak smile to the only thing Y/N had left behind. Haru nodded and the two of them walked out of the room.
bokuto looked one last time at the body covered with the white sheet and whispered out a goodbye before leaving.
