She walked away from the bookstore happily with her new book. The book felt rough, and coarse. The girl quickly walked home and went to her bedroom and shut her curtains for the night. She opened the book very carefully and began to read. Suddenly the book began to glow, a bright orangey yellow. Long prickly vines crept out of the book and wrapped themselves around the girl. She screamed as she was pulled into the book. The book fell to the floor with a thud. He had warned her about the book, and now it was too late....
When she awoke from her daze, she was no longer in her bedroom. She was in a dark, musty room with almost no light. The room was damp and moist with the scent of death in the air. As she looked around, she saw a glimmer of light coming from her left. The girl went to stand up and found that her wrists and ankles were bound with scratchy ropes. A door opened from somewhere in the room and a dark figure stepped in. A dim light flickered on, and the dark figure was identified. He was the man from the bookstore. The man who had warned her about the book.
"Hello" said the man.
The man appeared to be limping towards her. He looked as if he was holding a tray of some sort.
"W......what do you want with me?" asked the girl.
"I simply want to see what the book has done to you." Replied the man calmly.
"What d...do you mean? What does that book do to people?" asked the girl as she began to panic.
"Nothing much. I told you to heed my warning and you didn't listen." Replied the man as he calmly walked towards the girl.
The girl began to remember the warning now.
"Don't read the book aloud or at night or bad things will happen. Very bad things will happen. Remember this warning." The man had said.
As the man got closer, the girl began to panic. Sweat was pouring down her forehead and she was struggling to breathe. The girl started wiggling to try and get out of the ropes that bound her to the chair.
"Now, now, I don't want to hurt you." The man said as an evil smile crept across his face.
The man put the tray down on a table about three feet away from the girl. He picked up a syringe and began to walk towards the girl again.
"W.... what is that?" the girl asked nervously.
"Nothing important. Just a little something to help you." The man replied as he grabbed her hair and plunged the needle into her neck.
"Goodbye Valerie." Said the man laughing evilly.
