You've probably never heard of this word, but you've heard them being used in anime. They are the things that usually go after someones name. Example: Kirito-kun 

-chan ~ For close friends and relatives, especially female ones. 

-kun ~ For friends and relatives, typically male. It can be used for women, but it's uncommon.

-san ~ It is the same as we use Mr, Mrs, Ms, and Miss. It refers to people who are equal or nearly equaly social status. It is not used for people you know well. 

-sama ~ (formal) Mr, Mrs, Ms, and Miss. It refers to very high respect to someone. It's not normally used with other people's names, but it can be. 

sempai/senpai ~ One's senior. Used for upper classmen. Someone who is usually older and better  than you. Or to a fellow student. Can be used as a stand-alone title.

kohai ~ One's junior. Used for under classmen. Someone who is usually lower than you, like age. 

-sensei ~ teacher. Can be used as a stand-alone title.
