Hide and Seek

Chapter One 2065

I feel a nudge on my arm, not physical, telekinesis. Looking up the teacher is standing right in front of me, I must have zoned out because he doesn't look impressed. "Rita, are you going to answer my question?"
"Not my name," I think but all I say is "I'm sorry sir, I don't know."
Mr fredrick sighs and continues talking to the class. We have to change our names to hide, he knows our real name, and if he finds us we're dead.

The hall is filled with white tables and green chairs, the line for food is extremely lengthy as always. I manage to get served and make my way through the forrest of pupils to my friends. I don't need too see them to know where they are, I can sense my kind when we're in the same room.

Sitting down I can't help but notice that the two boys across from me are so different, one has short blond hair and golden skin while the other has brown hair-short back and sides- and pale skin. The blond one whistles as I sit down, dumping my bag under my table with too much force. "Someone's angry," Sam says with no concern in his voice, only humour.
I pull out my phone and hand it to him. "No wonder, " I reply, "she's going to expose us."
Nathan- the brown haired boy- looks confused and leans over to watch the video. I remember it all, gobsmacked, I had watched it over and over.

The girl with long red hair and dazzling orange eyes was standing at the railway station, the glass walls surrounding her as she waited for the train. She brought out a cigaret and lit it with her finger tip. Not a lighter, her finger, a spark of fire flying from the end of her slightly tanned skin before she smoked it, a smirk on her face as if she was daring someone to come after her. That was the end of it, all that happened next was a warning that the mutants were close and if anyone seen them they were to report to the LPAF(Lords Police and Army Force)
Sam looks up, his sapphire eyes lock onto mine which send shivers through my body, it's hard to stay mad when he's here. Nathan, unfazed by our meaningful glance, shrugs his shoulders and peers down at my phone one last time before passing it back to me. "I'm sure it's nothing, we'll phone her later." I nod, agreeing with him but I can't help feeling doubtful, this video may seem small but it's risky for us and I don't want to be hiding from them, not again.

The sun is setting, causing swirls of yellow and pink to spill across the sky. I'm mesmerised by it so much that I don't even notice someone coming up from behind me. "Beautiful isn't it?" The voice says, it fills my body with a warm sensation and I turn around and wrap my pale arms around his neck, my hands running through his luxurious blond hair.
"I didn't expect you to come over." I tell him, my voice barley a whisper.
"Disappointed?" Sam asks with a smirk, I love his smile, it's irresistible. He leans towards me a kisses me, slowly and meaningful, a quiet communication promising me he'll always here. I kiss him back, lingering a little, returning the promise.
"You know I could tell my step mom that you two are in here."
I jump back, pulling away from Sam to see a young girl at the door, her ocean of long golden hair goes all the way to her hips, and her bright orange eyes are mischievous.
Anna's step mom is my one of foster parents. When we were born our mothers died, they say about 45 woman where infected after an explosion outside one of Lord Williams office towers for biological research twenty years ago. They died once their children were born. I lived with my father until I was nine, but I've lived here ever since my father left, he's in a safer place, with mother.
The young girl, Anna Black, continues her childish efforts to wind me up. "You know Mrs Black doesn't approve of smooching."
An eruption of laughter comes from Sam as he doubles over next to me. "That's because your 14 and I'm 17." I tell her as I approach her and wrap her into a hug that she can't escape. "Come on, let's go grab something to eat."
